The location is ideal for the ones who appreciate being close to the beach shoreline but not in the middle of the commercial activity of the island. There is a walkable access to the beach via the 9th Street overpass or a very short drive (under a mile) to the first beach access at the end of the Middleton bridge road. Oak Island is probably the island where more free public parking is available for non-residents.
