Grand Plaza Nouakchott

I had initially booked the hotel for 2 nights but due to circumstances beyond my control, I ended up staying for an additional 9 nights, so 11 in total. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. My room had a large king size bed with a very comfortable mattress. The rooms also had good air conditioning. There were separate rooms with a kitchenette, where it is possible to cook food, and a large bathroom. Hot water was not a problem. Because, I had to stay here longer than expected, the size of the room was very important to me and was more like an apartment. I didn't feel 'penned in' as there was so much space in the room. There was a decent sized Tv and I was able to access my Netflix account without any problems. The WiFi at the hotel was extremely strong and I was able to use it to contact home and use the Internet without any problems at all. Another bonus to staying here was the complimentary breakfast provided at 'The Bakery' about 100m away. I wasn't aware that breakfast was included until being told by the Manager. So this was a nice surprise and it was a very good breakfast comprising of an omelette, fruit, orange juice and coffee. Although speaking directly to the staff in English was difficult, all of the staff were able to use 'Google Translate' so communication was good. Although I ended up staying longer than I had intended, my stay was extremely comfortable. Finally, a 'shout out' for Amin, the manager, who spoke excellent English and was able to assist me personally when I lost my passport. His help was in valuable.
