Gurney Bay Hotel, A PARKROYAL Partner HOTEL

I stayed at Gurney Bay Hotel for 4nights during a recent business trip, and overall, it was a comfortable and convenient experience. The hotel is well-located near Gurney Drive, making it easy to access restaurants, shopping malls, and local attractions.

Location is good. We will be happy if they convert their long bath to walk in bathroom. Older people will find long bath troublesome n risky. On the whole service was good

Surprised by how clean it was despite being an old hotel in the area. I am overall satisfied with the hotel and my room, especially the cleanliness of the toilet and tub area. If I have to be really fussy and pin point a thing I did not like, it would be that the blanket is slightly thinner than I would normally prefer a hotel blanket to me. However, this is just my very fussy side speaking. Overall, I would give this hotel a 4.9 out of 5. I had booked a room with breakfast during my two days there for a workshop. Both days are somewhat the same, food was decent. The workshop provided lunch which led me to again dining in the lunch buffet section, overall it was pleasant. I like it that the hotel provided a variety of Penang food over the two days. My fav was the rojak which I took a photo here haha! Hub enjoyed the pool and hot & cold pool (sadly the sauna was under maintenance). Before I checked out, I also happened to be part of the Penang heritage launch ceremony. So, I got to see some of the really beautiful art work and nyonya clothing items on sale at the pop up stalls at the lobby too. The hotel also was serving nutmeg juice and Penang famous snack 豆沙饼. I must mention too, that I got a sea view room which allowed me to see the extension project by MBPP. There was a very happening and lovely park opposite the hotel just minutes walk away. I couldn’t help to bring myself over and was really happy to experience the joy of the families enjoying the facilities there. Huge slide, lots of climbing equipment and a very decent skatepark! Running track was very nice too! You must check it out if you’re in Penang! It was overall a pleasant stay in all.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and both the lobby and rooms were clean and well-maintained. While the room amenities were generally decent, the TV felt outdated with its small screen. The hotel offers a good range of facilities including swimming pools, hot and cold saunas, a gym, and tennis courts — all of which added to the overall experience. However, the biggest downside was the Wi-Fi. The speed was slow and the connection inconsistent, even after we switched from room 1027 to 1020 for a supposedly better signal. This was quite frustrating, especially for work or streaming purposes. I would consider staying here again if the Wi-Fi connectivity is improved in the future.

Friendly service attitude, clean and tidy environment, quiet rest space and comfortable indoor temperature.

Hotel room is comfortable clean and sound proof is very good. My room facing the sea and its next to road side but it is very quiet and without noises from cars.only thing need to improve is the front desk staff(male) We check in around 6pm+. We double confirm with the front desk that we booked a twin room and requested for a corner quiet room as we are staying for 4 nights. I was surprised that the staff told us the hotel was fully booked and only left with king bed room. While I showed him my booking was twin room how can it be fiull8ng book! Then he no choice but he let us wait for more than 30 mins to get us a twin room. While waiting for the room I check the twin room was still available for the 4 days in agoda, *********** and trip.com. How can this happen in a five star hotel??
