It is two levels and has everything you will need to make your stay at Lake Gaston an enjoyable one. We have tv, internet and DVD players (movies provided), board games, books and puzzles...everything that will provide inside entertainment for family evenings or during inclement weather.Lake Gaston is a clear and beautiful lake located in the Piedmont of southern Virginia and northern North Carolina. It is the last major impoundment on the Roanoke River, and offers excellent water quality and water level fluctuations that are less than one foot. It is 35 miles long and has over 350 miles of shoreline. Lake Gaston is within a three hour drive of Washington DC, an hour and a half to two hours from Raleigh North Carolina and Virginia Beach Virginia.Outside is where the real fun is! Our backyard leads right to the water and our boat dock, which is the center of lake life. The water off the dock is about 6 feet deep which is great for older kids and adults. Younger kids do well with the shallow water by the shore. Swimming, fishing, sunbathing (don’t forget the sunscreen), and relaxing all happen right there. It’s a great place to view the beautiful evening sky and sunsets. Skiing and tubing can be started right in front of the dock. Besides the water sports, fishing is excellent at Lake Gaston! Available species include striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, perch, sunfish, and our favorite dinner fish, channel catfish. Fishing from the dock is a favorite pastime for both young and old alike. Early mornings and evenings are usually better, but when is fishing not good?Lastly, one of the best pastimes at the lake is RELAXING! Whether it be enjoying the view, reading a book, napping in the sun, soaking in the hot tub, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit at night, or mountain biking on the nearby trails. There is something about the lake that lets you leave everyday stress behind for awhile. This is what we most enjoy about our lake house. The beds are extremely comfortable and we get great water pressure making for amazing showers! We are on a very private, peaceful lot on a point right on the main lake with panoramic views of the water. The outdoor area has a large shaded patio off the main living area with beautiful pottery barn furniture with lots of comfortable seating along with a picnic table for outdoor dining. Off the patio is a firepit area with 6 composite Adirondack chairs, a firepit, gas grill, Blackstone flat top grill. Off the downstairs level, under the main deck is a large swinging day bed perfect for afternoon naps along with other comfortable seating and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after those long days on the lake. Included in your rental is the use of 1 huge lily pad floating mat, kayak and 2 stand up paddle boards along with paddles and life vests. We are right on the main lake with deep water (10 feet plus) off the end of our dock. Perfect for jumping in on those hot days! We are located less than 3 miles from a public boat launch. In the fall of 2024 a large brand new boat dock with cool decking was built and is available for docking your boat or sitting by the water and is also a great fishing spot.All linens are provided including sheets, comforters, duvet covers, extra pillows in the closets and throw blankets throughout the house. We provide 1 bath towel and 1 washcloth per guest along with 1 hand towel per bathroom. We will have laundry detergent, bleach and dryer balls available for your use if you wish to wash your towels throughout the week. We also provide a few beach towels for your use so please do not take the white bath towels outside. We will start you off with a small amount of toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing pods, dish soap, garbage bags and other household necessities. We do not provide toiletries but we do have black microfiber facial clothes in the bathrooms for removing makeup to help keep our white towels sparkling clean :) The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, cups, wine glasses, serving platters, mixing bowls, cookie sheets, a crock pot, pots & pans and much more. On the left is another bedroom with full bath. There is a King bed and a twin over-Queen bunk with lake view, and a door to the patio. The boat dock has a ladder for swimming and sun deck.
