Shellow Lane Lodges

I booked maple lodge as it was close to my daughter’s wedding venue. We had planned a nice chilled girly night, watching a film having face packs etc. The afternoon we were due to check in, I received an email telling me there was a change of lodge, and to bring our own towels. Hawthorne was tired, dirty, stunk of damp. Mould in the bathroom, no hot water. The furniture was disgusting in the lounge/ kitchen. The leather is peeling off the sofa,there were dirty marks up the walls, filled holes that hadn’t even been rubbed down. There were black mould marks on the worktop and the table. I rang the proprietor who was absolutely vile. I tried to tell him what the issues where, he proceeded to talk over me. When I asked him if he could let me speak, he put the phone down on me. Later that evening his wife rang me, ranting and shouting because *********** had been on to them. I was told what do you expect for the money you’ve paid £326 for two nights. If you don’t like it leave, you will not be getting a penny back. They are the most unprofessional people I’ve ever had the displeasure of talking to. We did leave at ten pm, because my granddaughter was upset by the woman’s aggressive attitude. she was unaware that we were recording the call, which I emailed to the relevant people. She tried to call me again at 22:38, shev also sent a disgusting text. After reading other reviews I recorded us leaving and how tidy we’d left it. I had to clean everywhere down before we used anything.Needless to say I had a full refund from the bank. They shouldn’t be allowed to advertise on sites because the lodges they’re advertising are fake. If you are thinking of staying, please don’t save your money.

We stayed for 2 nights in Hawthorn lodge. It's ok but I wouldn't stay here again. Overall maintenance was lacking. The integrated fridge and freezer was broken and there was a small portable fridge on the worktop that was inadequate for a family. The television in the lounge didn't work which not a huge problem, but disappointing. As others have mentioned there is a strong drainage smell. It's a remote location and probably has a septic tank

Weekend break Lovely lodges, large and comfortable. Perfect for our family trip. The furniture is of excellent quality and although we did not need to use it, the little shop was an excellent idea.
