Tropical Inn - North Battleford

The staff were awesome. Very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel was probably amazing in 1984…not the worst I’ve stayed in but very run down. The rooms don’t seem to actually have A/C…the temperature wasn’t horrible but they were extremely humid so it felt HOT and there was absolutely nothing we could do to adjust that. We wonder if they’ve kept the hotel name (Tropical) to stay consistent with the room temperatures…The kids loved the pool and the slides were a lot of fun. I think I’d sum it up with saying the staff are trying their best with a very dated and run down hotel. At least we didn’t pay a lot to stay there.

It’s 25 degrees in the room, air conditioning doesn’t work. Only reason we stayed in this crap hotel is the water slides which they won’t turn on due to a “ lack of staff.” Luckily we bought the room in a radio auction for 48 bucks so only overpaid by 40.

Bugs all over my room, walls, ceiling, patio window, curtains, everywhere you look in the bathroom, as well as all my coworkers rooms. After I killed about a dozen, I went to eat and came back a couple hours later and killed at least a dozen more. After more kept showing up, at 1am I decided to go ask to switch rooms and the front desk specimen was very snotty and said they don’t bite and asked if I wanted to check out in a condescending tone, she would not switch my room, like sleeping with bugs is normal to her. Well I like my place and esp hotel clean, and bug free.. but apparently in this hole that’s too much to ask. I don’t care if they are in her house, as she said,.. they aren’t in mine . Stay away from this place at all costs.. front desk have no customer service. She got angry at me for voicing my concern. Worst hotel experience i’ve ever had in my life in the first 3 hours of being here. And I travel A lot for work, all over North America so that is saying a lot.

My husband and I stayed one night here. Very quiet and a good sleep. We did not use the pool but it looked inviting. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Service was good. Staff at reception was accommodating.

I want to start off that I do not normally write reviews, but this hotel needed one. To start off, I’m from out of province and I have never had to pay for a room up front, I have only paid when I left. Check in went fast and we got our room. Once we started to walk to our room you could smell something awful to which it smells like an old ashtray . We got into our room, it was nothing special but that’s besides the point we’re not hear to stay In the room we’re here to spend time with our family and while not doing that the kids want to be in the pool and go down the water slides. This hotel has set and specific times that you can use the water slides, 9am-11am and 7pm-8pm…This is absolutely insane, to have to tell my kids they can’t go on the water slides because the hotel will not allow the slides to be turned on. They say they need an attendant here while the slides are on but then a sign that states “management does not accept liability for any injury”…In any of the hotels that I have stayed at there has never been set times for the water slides, just times while the pool is open. My kids were excited only to have to be told they are not allowed. It cost us 150 dollars a night and the only reason we stayed here was for the water slides for my kids. I will never be returning to the hotel and will advise people against staying here.
