We have been staying regularly at Munna Beach for the last 8-9 years, in a number of apartments both Standard and Superior. This time we visited as a family of six, so took a 3-bed waterfront apartment (no 12). Whilst the resort, swimming pool and facilities were as good as ever, sadly this particular apartment was very disappointing and best avoided. Firstly it’s categorised as ‘Waterfront Superior’. Yes it’s waterfront, but it’s far from Superior. We have stayed in better quality Standard apartments at the resort. The apartment is long overdue for a total refurb and replacement of carpets, furniture and kitchen equipment to bring it up to standard. It has a build up of long-term grime – the sofa and carpets particularly were dirty and stained, and felt so dirty we actually put towels on them before using. Aside from the furniture being damaged, one outdoor chair broke when we sat on it, leaving a metal spike exposed. Whilst the apartment accommodates six people, it is inadequately kitted out for six. There was insufficient and old/rusted kitchen equipment to be able to cook. The pans did not work on the cooktop, which would not get to the required heat. The fridge interior casing is cracked and everything in the fridge stayed wet (yes, it’s Queensland but this still shouldn’t happen). The dryer doesn’t dry. We did report this, and the water container needed emptying, however this didn’t improve things. We ended up Googling the dryer to find it has overall reviews of 2.8 with the comments confirming that everything remains wet even after two hours of drying time. It needs replacing. The bed in Bedroom 1 – the worst we have ever encountered in decades of travel. It is so hard that it was impossible to sleep on and we both suffered joint pain every morning, even after padding it with additional blankets. The single beds were of better quality. The list is endless, but includes long-term mould in the shower, on the shutters and window frames, plus badly marked walls throughout …. we could go on. Disappointingly we weren’t offered any form of discount having discussed this with the onsite managers. Apartment 12 is in desperate need of attention, and should be de-listed. It is not representative of the rest of Munna Beach sadly.
