Makuzi Beach Lodge

The accommodations are charming private cabins facing the lake in a lovely tropical garden setting. They are clean and very comfortable. Everything works - plumbing, electrical (including AC). WiFi only works in the reception area. We had a group of eight, and the staff provided a delicious dinner and breakfast.

Absolutely stunning place!! The accommodation is beautiful and blends into the natural backdrop. The restaurant is fabulous- some of the best food we’ve had during our travels around Southern Africa. The staff are so lovely and helpful! The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed swimming and kayaking. I would recommend exploring the local village and walking around the beautiful area. A place we’ll never forget!

The place was paradise .we really had a good time and a beautiful tour in the gardens.i loved meeting their pet dogs and the food was really nice.we took a boat ride out and spent time on the beach.definetly planning to go back.

The lodge we were based in for three nights was lovely. It was very comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a shame for them that we were the only guests staying at the lodge but it made it a beautifully quiet place for us. We loved the beach and enjoyed watching all the birds and trying to name them. It was quite windy in the mornings but the wind dropped in the afternoon when we enjoyed swimming in the lake. On one day the lodge organised for us to have a tour of the local village. Our guide from the village Dixon was very friendly, informative and didn’t seem to mind how many questions we asked. He even got his wife to demonstrate the stages in making nsima from cassava meal for us. He also took us to the beach to show us something of the fishing they did. We also learnt from him something about the Scottish missionaries who lived there for a while. The tour was well worth the $15 each it costs. If you take the tour do check who you should be paying - the lodge or the village.
