The Kilbirnie Hotel is in a perfect setting, looking out onto the Atlantic Ocean with a lovely view from the front of the hotel. It's very clean and the rooms are a good size with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. The restaurant has a good choice of menu and the food was well cooked and tasty. Thank you to Linda, our lovely lady serving breakfast. We had bed and breakfast and also had our evening dinner in the hotel. There's a large bar with reasonable prices on drinks. Diana, the lady that was serving while we were there, was a delight, friendly, and helpful. Tara on reception was so helpful and kind. We had an issue with the shower door in my friends room as it was almost impossible to move and she spent ages trying to help sort it out until the maintenence team dealt with it the next day. So thank youTara, you're a star. The swimming pool and sauna are also good and we swam daily. The indoor pool is warm a reasonable size, very clean too. The main problem at the moment is the building site right next door. The main problem with our stay there, was that although the hotel was virtually empty, we were put in 2 rooms right by the scaffolding by the building site. As the Kilbirnie has very few rooms for people who can't get into or out of a bath with shower, I presume that's why we were put there. We should have been informed of this when we booked as it made a significant difference to our stay. My elderly friend is deaf and decided to stay in her room, even though the scaffolding was right outside her window, blocking any view or light. I complained as the noise was dreadful, only to be told, well, they finish at around 4pm. Sorry, I don't want to stay in a room with drilling, banging, radios blaring and vehicles reversing from 8am to 4pm, thank you. I was given another room and moved myself. I think from then on, we became a problem for the reception staff as we were then virtually ignored. So, as a result, I won't be returning to the Kilbirnie Hotel anytime soon.
