Barrowfield Hotel

Just returned from an enjoyable 4 night stay at the Barrowfield with Daish's coach holidays. The hotel was warm & clean with a cosy atmosphere. Meals were varied & of reasonable quality & well presented. Service was good although staff shortages meant a slight wait for meals at times but that was only a minor issue. Nightly entertainment with bingo & quiz added to a good value all round holiday.

Visited on a coach trip. Enjoyed the week overall- staff were very helpful and friendly. Think it would have been better to have 2 sittings for meals as food was often not hot enough and would have been good to have fresh vegetables not frozen. The Entertainment Room was not big enough for the number of guests and not really warm enough. 1 evening we could not find a seat anywhere not even in foyer. We were however very comfortable and warm in our room.

The travel arrangements where altered had to go from Wolverhampton to Exeter to change coaches after being assured that it was to pick passengers up. At the hotel Barrowfield the lift catered for 2 people only this delayed us getting to our room.and getting to breakfast (our age restricted us from using stairs) The food was good that is when you got it service was poor due to staff shortage .Floor boards creaked both rooms each side of us as well as our own Saturday 2 drinks nothing special £5 plus Sunday same drinks £6 plus ＞The bar prices I think are high After a number of years going to the Barrowfield we will NOT be going again.Things have not improved from last year. ＜

Our twin room was small and dirty, bathroom had broken mastic around the sink and toilet. There was no hot water for the length of our stay, we reported it everyday but the hotel has denied we did, luckily our travel rep was a witness to our complaints. The hotel was grubby in the communal areas and the food definitely left a lot to be desired. It’s the fact the hotel will not take responsibility that is reprehensible

Had a nice time staff were brilliant food was plentiful and hot.slow at times but not that you'd complain. Entertainment could be better,only one good night with Gary on Saturday night. Mel is a very nice manager,nothing to much trouble. Be back soon.

Upon our arrival my 84y mother inlaw, was allocated a room which could only be described as a broom cupboard. Where as my wife and I had an adequate room, in her room were the coffee and tea are was a stained unit, the room is tiny. No remote for the TV which an 84 y lady who loves the soaps on the TV is important she does not want to get up and turn the chanel over manually. Upon arrival for our evening meal I asked if my mother inlaw could sit with us on our table as she had been allocated another table, allthough this was sorted promptly I asked the person 9n reception about my mother inlaws room, who made a note in the book. Whilst having our meal and what could only be describe as a women with a aggressive attitude, came to our table without her guest whom we did not know, and proceeded to ask if we had complaind about one of the rooms. We said 'xyes'' and before we could say anything else, she interrupted not only our meal but to explain in a laud voice that they had no other rooms and she didn't understand as all the rooms on level 3 had just been done? Although my mother inlaw and my wife attempted to explain further again her attitude and laud manner just cut them off. I then interjected and said well let's go and have a look now, to which she reacted anxiously by petting me on the shoulder saying there is no need for that. She also proceeded to inquire what room my mother inlaw was in (301) , to which she said no you are in 311. At the point a few exchanges about which room it actually was, with this woman appearing still not to belive us. After the meal I approached the duty manager, which was about as much use as a chocolate fire gard. I started to explain to him the above, to which he replied '' you've spoken to Mel'' ? I can't do anything. So I could feel his attitude was just as poor so I explained about the woman's attitude and if she was one of my staff she would be fired. Or at least be sent o.n a corse on how to deal with customers. On reflection so should the duty manager. Please note on the rating I had to put one rate to move to the next step, this place deserves none.
