Porth Veor Manor, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

ROOMS are basic both of mine were thick in dust with the blind damaged.Avoid room 24 no wifi at all. Cleaning was very poor. Bathroom was adequate although the complimentary shampoos and shower gel were not replenished. I found this hotel to be on par with fawlty towers although at least you got to giggle with Basil fawlty. Despite raising the issues with the reception staff several times and one other they did nothing about it and I had to force the issues to get any action. Breakfast was OK but they still got the order wrong on the occasion I took breakfast. Dated , dreary and unfriendly I would hate to have been here during peak season. Lastly there is no phone signal on any network. Not recommended and would avoid the Porth Manor like the plague.

It’s outstanding and flawless for the price paid. I think it’s open all year round. If you are interested in working in hospitality you don’t need to go on a training course, just book into here for a few nights and watch what they do how they do. It’s clear hospitality comes naturally to them. The welcome is genuinely warm and it’s a first impression that lasts. We stayed three nights and could have stayed three weeks. We had booked a standard room and they reached out to offer an upgrade to a sea view so we took the deal. Our room was lovely. The view was more sandy beach than sea but still delightful. We had tea/coffee - making facilities including biscuits and a dolce gusto coffee machine. The bath towels were just luxurious. Breakfast was really good, delicious porridge followed by kippers. On our last day I opted for a plain omelette with some of the Benedict sauce with their Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. We got a Chinese carry out one night and they laid a table for us in the dining room, provided water, plates and cutlery and did the washing up! Now that’s hospitality for ya. We got a few drinks from their mini bar. It was real relaxing to have a few drinks and great craic with the bar staff after a long day touring. The chef made cake which we bought at the bar for a treat. Hope to return some day - the only two downsides were no lift and one beyond the control of our hosts - as the weather was not kind.

I have stayed at this hotel twice a year over the past 4 years and it is faultless. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted warmly, the rooms are very well furnished and comfortable, the location is unbeatable and food amazing. Clearly the last reviewer (Nicky H) has not a good word to say about any of the hotels he/she has reviewed. The hotel is an absolute gem and I'm almost reluctant to tell everybody how wonderful it is in case I can't get a booking later this year !

Very clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, even took our cases up to our room. Bar is open from 10.30 to around 10pm, but sometimes closes earlier and is an ideal comfortable place to meet up with other friends staying in same hotel. Selection of games and books in bar, Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast has a wide choice of food, served at your table. They take cooked breakfast order at table then bring it to you, all cooked fresh. Breakfast room has a wonderful view of sea and bay. They don't do evening meals but plenty of local restaurants and pubs nearby for evening food, and the hotel gives you a list of local places to eat. We would definitely like to stay here again. It is a bit pricier than the run of mill hotel chains, but well worth time spent here. Easy free parking and Wi-Fi.

Nice clean hotel, situated just out of Newquay in porth very close to beachexcellent helpful staff, good variety choice for breakfast and high quality products. Comfortable bed, clean power shower and bathroom Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Decided on a last minute break and a decent deal came up for this hotel. Alround experience very pleasant headed by pleasant staff, decent room and breakfast, and a 'heated outdoor pool' which is something we had not done in many years . Hotel and its linked properties stood out quite nicely around the bay. Shame it doe's not do evening meals. Its a 15 to 20 minute 'pleasant' walk to get to Newquay town. We found ourselves doing this most days as particularly in the evening, there was only (in our opinion) the Mermaid Inn, in the bay, that one could visit for meal or refreshment.
