Hotel in zona Newcastle Museum, Newcastle

Great stay at Rydges Newcastle. Awesome location on the harbour. Close to beaches and with ample dining options right on your doorstep. The only let down was the buffet breakfast. Not a great selection of food, and the staff were totally overwhelmed with the breakfast crowd. Food was very slow to come from the egg station and tables were left unclean.

First time at a Crystalbrook hotel. It was a pleasant experience. Rooms are really spacious with nice modern decor/retro design touches. Bed was ok, pretty firm. Room entry is a bit of a wasted space around closet area, probably could have been better utilised. Bathroom was well equipped, probably could have been bigger based on wasted entry area. The hotel has a rather sombre vibe so a bit vanilla in that respect. Restaurant not open Sunday eves so couldn't try. Bar on top level has pretty good views but a bit disjointed between nice bar and seating area in a seperate room. Didn't get a buzzy feeling there. Location was ok, bit out of central CBD but close enough to Darby St eateries so had my Sunday dinner there. Opposite Civic Park and close to waterfront. Loved the ”no plastic bottle” and refillable water stations for an eco friendly experience.

2 days before 3 of us were due to stay at another property in Newcastle, (a 2 bedroom apartment), I was called to say the apartment I had booked (Nouveau on Young) had become unavailable due to the people in it extending their stay. Suffice to say that a heated discussion entailed and even more so when the only alternative they offered was a 1 bedroom apartment with a trundle bed in the lounge room for my 70 year old sister to sleep in, in this so called ”Executive Apartment” in a completely different suburb!! The only recompense the SMUG manager offered was free parking! OR of course the other option of cancelling our booking and getting a refund.... We had booked the other apartment 6 months before our stay as it is very near the Stadium where we were seeing a concert and obviously the whole of Newcastle was booked out by the time it came to 2 days beforehand. This apartment was ok, though not properly cleaned. The bedroom is small, the furniture is old and worn. The verandah not maintained. It certainly isn't big enough for 3 people to stay in comfortably! This company operates a string of properties in Newcastle and I would be wary of receiving any reliability, help, sympathy or recompense regarding your booking.

Un bel vecchio hotel che è stato ristrutturato. Le camere sono pulite e bellissime- letti un po 'troppo vicini insieme in una camera gemella, c'è un frigo e servizi di caffè/tea. Molti punti di potenza. L'illuminazione potrebbe essere migliore. Siamo stati li' il Domenica Pasqua e c'era un'intera giornata di ravvicinamento fino alle 10:00 - le pareti lo scaldavano così forte! I corridoi sono decorati con vecchie foto/impronta che è un bel toccamento. Mi piaceva molto il posto. Piazza confortevole, camere belle. Buona posizione.

We stayed here recently! Absolutely gorgeous! Super comfy king size bed, massive windows to look out at the city and lots of space as the room was much larger than I thought it would be. Lovely modern bathroom & kitchen that is well equipped, the little library on level five was such a welcoming place to sit and your staff were friendly, happy and accomodating - especially Laura! Add in complimentary bottle of wine and parking on site, definitely tops off a wonderful stay. We will be back! Thanks! Nicole & Paul

The weekend was all about getting away for my wife’s birthday and the hotel certainly didn’t disappoint,right from the time we arrived the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming they couldn’t do enough for us, the room was perfect in every way and the views were amazing. We had breakfast at the hotel each morning and we were not disappointed with the food or the service both were excellent. We are definitely looking forward to returning for another visit.

I don’t usually review hotels because there are often too many negatives or the experience is just average. However, The National Hotel Newcastle stands out as a modern hotel that truly embraces 21st-century standards—something all hotels should aim for. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with the best mattress I’ve ever slept on in a hotel, and the pillows were perfect. I’m particular about cleanliness, and I was pleased to find no dust under the bed, thanks to the blocked-off design. There was a little dust on the bed board shelf, especially behind the iPad holder, but nothing major. The TV was large, high-quality, and had internet access, which is always a bonus. The blackout blinds and screen were excellent and operated with the touch of a button. The air conditioning worked well, though it was a little noisy at times, but not excessively so. The bathroom was well-equipped, with all the essentials and a good, hot shower. The contemporary art photography of the local area in both the room and throughout the hotel added a nice touch. The room offered a nice selection of complimentary coffee capsules and tea bags, along with a coffee machine, although the light in the coffee area wasn’t working (or I couldn’t find the switch). I also discovered a safe in the bottom cupboard and a luggage rack by the wardrobe, which at first glance looked like a folded ironing board. The hotel’s library area was a pleasant surprise—bright and open, with free tea, coffee, and three types of drinking water on tap. There were also USB points, charging sockets, and cubicles for private video chats. I appreciated the use of live indoor plants and original photography throughout the hotel. Another thoughtful touch was the drinking water stations located at various points, allowing guests to refill their bottles. The bar and restaurant area was also pleasant, offering a small but satisfying menu and a fully stocked bar. Additionally, the car park had several EV charging spots, making it convenient for electric vehicle owners. Overall, I had a great stay at The National Hotel Newcastle and look forward to returning!

From the moment I called to book a configuration of rooms, the service was personal and perfect. Then we went into our rooms. Wow. So spacious. So clean. So well set out (all of us in our separate suites thought the same). The shower was luxurious with a water flow ideal when on a weekend away. The small touches of a lolly bag and personal note added to the whole experience.

Pros: la colazione era buona, il parcheggio era sicuro e conveniente, il personale era utile e amichevole. Cons: la stanza e il bagno non erano puliti, le mutandine erano profumate (dovremmo chiedere di cambiare l'intero set), l'acqua era bloccata nel lavandino, la TV non aveva suono, ma il ricevitore aiutava a risolvere tutti i problemi immediatamente.

Grazie ai buoni parentali di Scomo, siamo riusciti a soggiornare presso la YHA Newcastle (una camera familiare per 4 era appena oltre $100 per notte). La posizione era vicino a alcune delle migliori attrazioni di Newcastle ... Nobbys e Newcastle Beach, Pier/breakwall di Macquarie, Memorial Walk ecc. Le camere erano di base con legno/tovaglioli forniti e le strutture cucina e bagno erano eccellenti e pulite. C'è una storia interessante, ma vi lascio studiare.
