Carlton Arms Hotel

Immagino che il modo migliore sia descriverlo come un ostello ok se fosse in Europa. Le docce potrebbero essere più pulite. Qualcun altro che è rimasto lì ha ritenuto che fosse un po' inquietante e che ci fosse una certa aria di qualcosa di losco. Detto questo, la mia esperienza è stata positiva e il personale era adorabile. Non sono sicuro se ci tornerei comunque.

La verità è che sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso dall'hotel, dall'eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo. La camera è molto grande per quella che è New York, bagno completo con vasca, aria condizionata, tutto molto pulito e letti molto comodi. L'hotel è ottimamente posizionato, nel bel mezzo del centro cittadino, vicino a tutto e una menzione speciale va a Cristian che ci ha trattato nel migliore dei modi.

Incredibile, tuttavia devo qualificarlo. Se vuoi un hotel moderno classico "perfetto", questo non fa per te. Se sei alla ricerca di un eccentrico hotel artistico non standard a un ottimo prezzo, l'hai trovato. Non c'era l'aria condizionata, la camera aveva solo un lavandino, servizi igienici e docce condivisi (sempre disponibili per me). L'arredamento è stupendo, se ti piace lo stile come ho fatto io. Arredi unici. Acqua fredda disponibile (per riempire le bottiglie) e caffè gratuito disponibile anche. Il personale era sempre cordiale, così come lo erano gli ospiti, ed è un'ottima posizione. Il gatto dell'hotel è un vero tesoro

Il Carlton Arms è esattamente quello che dice di essere. Un hotel unico decorato con opere d'arte originali in un'ottima posizione a un prezzo ragionevole. Finché capisci cosa stai ricevendo e riesci a trasportare la tua attrezzatura su diverse rampe di scale irregolari, lo adorerai. Avevamo un posto sicuro e pulito dove dormire (con il bagno in fondo al corridoio) per una frazione del costo di altri hotel di New York. Fai attenzione al gatto d'attacco, alle spose zombi e ai poeti ubriachi.

Ho trovato questo gioiello cercando "alloggio unico" a New York e si adattava davvero al conto. Ottimo posto dove stare se stai cercando una buona posizione, un'esperienza unica e non vuoi spendere una fortuna. Se ti piacciono le località termali o non ti accontenti di niente di meno di un Hilton, questo NON fa per te. Ma se cerchi un posto accogliente con un'a**osfera funky (e un gatto residente) dove puoi prendere qualche Z (se i rumori della città non ti impediscono di dormire), questo è il tuo posto! Siamo arrivati presto, quindi solo una stanza era aperta all'ora (di solito a loro piace farti dare un'occhiata in giro e scegliere la tua stanza), ma siamo riusciti a fare il check-in in anticipo e lasciare i bagagli per ritirarli più tardi dopo il check-out. Le camere non sono lussuose, quindi, di nuovo, se è quello che stai cercando, questo non è il tuo tipo di hotel. Ma sono adeguate con lenzuola pulite e letti abbastanza comodi da riposare bene la notte. Nota: alcune camere hanno bagni in comune. La nostra stanza si chiamava "pensando nel sonno"... ancora non credo di aver capito il murale (forse non dovrei), ma è stato interessante discuterne tra di noi. Ho davvero apprezzato l'esperienza del nostro breve soggiorno e ci tornerei sicuramente!

Is it worth $142 (including taxes and fees) for a Double bed + 1 twin)? It’s the cheapest accommodation we could find in Manhatten on a holiday weekend / sat night. The room we booked was for 3 persons but we had only two occupants which is just right . Might be tight for 3 if you have plenty of luggages. There is a mini fridge and sink in each room which was convenient . A public area next to reception on 1st floor with free coffee and tea in morning. Also a microwave and water fountain. So if you’re staying long term, you can save your leftovers in your room’s mini fridge and warm them in the microwave. Pro: charming, unique, interesting murals and artistic, great location (lots of restaurants!), hot water in showers, heater kept room very toasty, clean sheets, clean thick newer towels, staff is super nice (Mr Patagonia) and gave a nice welcome. Room is relatively clean, doesn’t smell. Con: it’s a hostel at a hotel price. Some rooms are better condition than others and vice versa: ie some rooms are worse. Some of the bathrooms are also slightly better condition because they were upgraded. Bedroom got too hot we had to prop open the window to cool it down. No elevator. Suggestion: 1. arrive early you might get a choice of rooms 2. Bring Flipflop (and a plastic bag for your personal stuff) for the shared bathroom 3. Save a few dollars if you book direct. We paid more through Agoda because we didn’t know. 4. Tour the whole hotel walk around every floor! 5. Don’t loose your key - no staff after midnight so you will be locked out! We had a room with walls of painted dolls that look like voodoo dolls - especially when the lights go out, their white faces reflect the ambient light - pretty spooky. We didn’t hear any noise from next door. We parked on the street - free parking on sat night to Sunday. Other days you have to pay the meter. We could have driven to queens and had a nicer hotel for the same price but then we chose location over that. One night is ok. More only if you ok with the gringiness. It’s very old and could use updates but then, if updated, you probably won’t be paying this price like other places in Manhatten.

This is what I like. I have no idea what anyone else may like, so my words are not for you. I'm talking to the Carlton Arms. I can't wait to go back. In fact, I can't wait to stay in every room, so I can see each of their interiors. That's obviously important with the Carlton, but what was even more important for me was the welcome and service we got from everyone we met in reception. Each and every person we met effortlessly bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. Just the coolest bunch of people. And the cat is the second chillest cat I've ever met. A woman I got chatting to after helping her with her bags - as she had a broken wrist - tells me it's a she called Ned, though I, her, or both of us could be wrong. Just the best value I've ever found in New York in pretty much anything. Also, rare to find something that does so much more than it says on the tin. Especially at that level of value. The Carlton Arms is likely to make trips to New York a more regular occurrence. Just the optimum level of everything - including character. Love it

Somehow I accidentally reserved a room for three nights without checking reviews or even looking at the pictures.. instant slam by Mr Murphy. The hotel is said to be unique, buy not especially in a good way. The art was childish and not very good. Well, you don't spend a night at that kind of hotel very often, so we decided to stay. First morning we realized that there's no hooks or shelters or anything to hang or put things on. Towels remained wet and all the clothes had to keep in the baggages. We asked about that, and the kind employee said we could change a room. We however decided to keep ours cause we were said we'll get the new towels everyday and so we did. The beds were amazingly good and also pillows. Sheets were clean. But the bathroom.. it was so dirty, molded and filthy, also it smelled like a mold and it had never been cleaned. The whole room seemed like it had never been cleaned. Dust, dirt but no bugs we saw. I can rate a room with five star if it was tiny or not quite functional but not dirty. The stuff was friendly and helpful and they also had a cat, Ned, who was a part of the stuff and made our day.
