Sonder — The Pythian

This was an awful 4 night stay. We asked for early check in. It was denied but we were guaranteed our unit would be ready at 4pm. It was not available until 4:40. Then, we were assigned the wrong room. We had reserved a 2 bedroom with 1 king and 1 queen. We were assigned 2 queen beds. When I called the attendant lied to me and told me no units in that building had king beds. That is untrue, there are. One of the toilets did not even have a seat. It was in a closet. There is a step in the hallway inside the hallway that is not marked (out of code) and is a terrible trip hazard. Then the AC went out. I was on the phone for approximately 8 hours. After that I was finally moved to a unit 2 doors down. It has 1 king and 1 queen bed. It was the unit we had booked. After all of that. They gave us $100 back. Are you kidding me? I feel deeply taken advantage of by Sonder. Their customer service was unable or unwilling to help. I spoke with probably a dozen different reps. Several said they were calling back in “10 minutes” only to not call back at all. A wood this place.

Very nice apar**ent in the a great location! Was walking distance to French Quarter and Harrah's so easy to get to places. There's also a ton of restaurants and a bar beneath the apar**ent so you don't have to walk far. The place it's self was well furnished and had nice, cold AC blasting for the hot days. Instructions were very detailed, had no issues getting in.

Overall, my Bae and I loved our stay. It was the size of a extra large 1 bedroom apt. There's a washer, dryer, stove, fridge , microwave, large shower and a great extra half bath for when my honey was using the main bathroom. It took a little while to get the water hot but once it got warm, we were good to go the entire stay. Same for the air... It took about 1hr to cool down, but once it cooled down, it stayed cool. Bourbon St was in walking distance and there were too many places to eat nearby to count. We caught an Uber to Frenchmen st and to the airport. Everything else, we walked. Directions to access the building and apt were perfect, and registration was done via my phone. No hassle at all. There was a bit of a sewage smell upon entering the elevator and apt, so definitely bring some air freshener. Honestly, it was the same smell outside of the airport so maybe it's just New Orleans..lol.. If I had to make one complaint, it would be the lock on the Apt door. It took some finagling to figure it out. We think it may have been unsecured our first night so double check the locks before your drinks start rolling 🤣. We definitely would stay there again.

The bathroom sink leaked water onto the floor. We called to ask for a fix and stayed in for out first night to wait. No one showed. The next day once we left we got a “your request is complete” text only to come back to a leaky sink! The toilet ran the entire time we were there and didn’t always flush. We had to wash our hands in the kitchen sink. The iron was subpar at best. The shower water temperature and pressure changed after the first shower of the day. There were different homeless people outside of the building every day sleeping and hanging out. The entrance smelled of urine. NEVER again!

This place was not as advertised. The entire building smelled like a dispensary. The furniture was cheap and uncomfortable. We didn't have water half of the time and not at all on the last day. There was no detergent for washing clothes. They had some fine print rules never disclosed that we had to clean up the apar**ent as well as wash the linens even though we'd paid a cleaning deposit. Because we had no water on the last day we could not wash the dishes. We did our best to clean up without water or supplies but they still STOLE our cleaning deposit as well as charged us almost $300 in fees.

Building was historic and in a nice location, there was ample street parking (meters were easy to pay via the Park Mobile app), easy access in and out building, secure environment, close proximity to everything New Orleans has to offer, very spacious apar**ent, clean and cozy, tv was easy to use after we figured out how to cast shows from various apps. Check in and out instructions were detailed and easy to follow. I plan to stay with Sonder again in the future.
