Let me start with this-I will sleep anywhere. I just want to feel safe and clean. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I understand that I booked a CHEAP Motel. But in my defense, I stayed here about a decade ago and it was nowhere near in the condition that it was tonight. And let me also be clear that the room I was in tonight looked nothing like the rooms that are showcased on this website and these pictures are not great so if what I got was worse than what you’re seeing on here, you can imagine my surprise. The first thing when I walked up to the room door, it looked as though I could’ve pushed it open with my foot. I use my key and got in and flip the light switch by the door on to no avail. No overhead lighting. There was some sort of loose furniture behind the door, I think it was a mirror or some sort of framed something that was rather large. The carpet was buckled and wrinkled and covered in stains. The room was massive, but filled with decrepit furniture that left a massive space on one side of the room. When I went to check the bed for bedbugs, the mattress literally crunched in my fingers. It had a mattress cover, but there were stains and holes throughout it. The sheets appeared clean, but how would I know because they were just your standard sheets. The bedside table was literally falling apart and had a massive splinter in the top of it. There was no electrical outlet near the bed for me to plug my phone into, there was no Wi-Fi, and while eventually, the television turned on, it took me juggling two different remotes to figure it out. I went into the bathroom and the door was falling off of the hinges, and it was very clear that I would not be taking a shower that night. The room smelled musty and old and the walls were covered in patches and mismatched paint colors. It looks like a flop house. I was uncomfortable enough that once I locked and chained the door, I jammed a chair under the door knob. The chain for the door was held to the wall via a zip tie. The room made me feel unsafe and dirty. I immediately booked another hotel. When I went to the front lobby to give them my key back and tell them I was leaving, the desk clerk just looked at me and shrugged and said OK. To be fair, I can tell that they are undergoing a massive renovation, but if your rooms are in this kind of condition, don’t rent them out. I’ve never left a hotel in the middle of the night. And I’ve stayed in some pretty sketchy places. That should tell you something. And after all that they refused to issue a refund through the booking site.
