During my stay in Delhi, my friend suggested me to stay at Connaught Royale Hotel. According to her the hotel was of good standard and the location was good too. I reached the hotel and was welcomed by the Reception Supervisor. I mentioned to the latter that I had a booking and showed him the reservation details. He checked on the system and told me that the rate would be higher than agreed. I told him that he need to check with his senior and it was clearly mentioned on the mail about the agreed rate which was already high. He insisted and I was agreeable on the new rate as I was tired and wanted to rest. When I reached my room I was given a room on the side of the main road, the room was pretty spacious. I settled in and went to use the wash bassin. The pipe was leaking and all the water was falling on my feet. I found that unhygienic and a trip hazard too as it was slippery. I tried not to pay much attention to it as I needed rest. Later I went for shower and the bathroom was dirty with molds on the walls. Well it’s really disgusting and unhealthy to stay in such a room. I went downstairs and requested whether my room could be changed and the Reception Supervisor mentioned that there was no availability. So I had no choice as I had to stay in that same room. Later I went for dinner and opted for a light meal. I was served and the food was good. Their restaurant is just behind the Reception and it is quite appropriate for that type of hotel. I went to my room to brush my teeth again the water from the wash bassin was spilling out. I had to place a towel in order to stop that disaster. I went to sleep and switched off the lights and was disturbed by the noise on the road and as the curtains were not closing properly there was the street lights which were reflecting in the room. I must admit it was very disturbing and uncomfortable. I hardly slept that night. The next day after my shower I slipped in the bathroom. Luckily I wasn’t hurt. I went downstairs for breakfast and there was a buffet mostly with Indian food and some continental options. It was reasonable nothing like a grand choice of dishes. I asked the waiter for assistance and was told everything is labeled and I have to serve myself. Even for the tea and coffee I should serve myself. I was surprised but thought it might be the standard of that hotel. So I went to serve myself and was eating quietly at a table. There comes the twist an Indian couple walked in the restaurant and the waiters approached them very politely and started showing them the various dishes. They even accompanied the guests to their table and took their order. Few minutes later the couple were served at their table and they made some request of some special food which wasn’t on the buffet and were served. I must point out that the guests are just like any guest yet they were given VIP service. What a pity as the waiters are not even allowed to do anything like that as they should pr
