The Old Cider House

We spent 3 nights at The Old Cider House in July 2023, together with our labrador, and had an excellent time. Lynne & Ian are super hosts and very welcoming and are real dog-lovers (having had their own issues looking for genuine dog-friendly accommodation in the past). We hadn't done B&B in recent years, having usually opted to stay in pubs, but we certainly made the right choice staying here. Nether Stowey is not the biggest place but is a great gateway to walking in the Quantocks - we didn't move our car once we arrived - you can walk into the hills from the front door. The Ancient Mariner pub just down the road is good for food in the evening; occasionally Ian & Lynne cook for their guests - always worth seeing if they're planning on cooking whilst you're there; they're good cooks! Highly recommended, we'll be back.

We visited the Cider House with two other couples - my sisters and their husbands to be exact- to attend a wedding at Quantock Lakes. We really enjoyed our visit. The village was charming and within easy reach of the wedding venue. The welcome by Ian and Lynne was really warm and they endured our lingering over the copious breakfast andvreally cooked breakfast. They also were happy to provide extra toast, coffee, marmalade and so on. Jasper was a lovely distraction and companion too. The rooms were large and comfortable. The shower rooms were very small though and certainly in the Castle Room the shower itself was a bit of a squeeze. But it would be difficult to have anything else and retain the room size. The owners were friendly and helpful - a really nice place to stay.

As well as a great dog-friendly, yummy stay with our hosts, Lynne and Ian, Nether Stowey puts you right at the edge of The Quantock Hills and just a short drive to the coastline. We had such a relaxing break, and local pub, The George is of great character too!

My wife and I spent 2 nights at The Old Cider House in August. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Our hosts were well organised, friendly and amenable. Nether Stowey is a picturesque little village at the foot of the Quantock Hills and well positioned for visiting the coast and Taunton.
