Catamaran Beach Hotel

Wow. This place is terrible... and I mean terrible. As with the previous reviewer, I was sentenced to 12+ hours here after I was bumped off an overbooked flight. It is an absolute disgrace that shows the airline to be the national embarrassment it is. This hotel is FILTHY. The lobby area stinks and there is grime everywhere. The pillow cases haven't even been laundered for gods sake. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

What a horrible hotel, the staff are rude and haven't got a clue about customer service. The worst restaurant I have been to in the world, and believe me I have been to a few. Don't bother as no one speaks a word of English which is fine but I asked for a bottle of white wine and the waiter serving us didn't know what white wine was.

The worst hotel I have ever had to stay in. We were given this place as accomodation when our flight by Srilankan airlines got cancelled. After i got the voucher I checked and saw it was 3 star hotel. We were returning home after a 7 day trip in Srilanka and all of us were tied. Since it was marked as a 3 star hotel i expected a clean room with air conditioning and palatable food. Our rooms were in the first floor. The whole hotel smelled like the ocean. They didn't have room freshener or anything to make the smell go away. The AC and fan in one of the rooms didn't work, and we switched to a different room after dinner. There were mosquitoes in all the rooms and the only solution offered was a mosquito repellent. The food was terrible. It smelled like spoilt food. All that we ate was bread with butter and ice cream. My toddler went to bed with just a glass of milk after a long and tiring day. I just saw the cost of this place, it is not worth even 1/10 of the price they claim for it to be. Please do not accept this hotel if Sri Lankan airlines offers it to u in case of a cancellation or transit

Had to spend one night over there duty an unexpected flight issue. We were transferred to this hotel by air port transfer service. The hotel experience was like not so good. We were given the dinner, a buffet with almost no options. Rooms was too dusty. Mosquitoes - no needs to talk about it by word of mosquitoes you can experience it . Staff is average. Any way from airport if it asked which hotel do you need from transfer counter , try to select any other except this

Hi, I have recently get a chance to stay at Catamaran Beach Hotel in regards to long transit via Colombo (Flight from Melbourne to Karachi), My overall experience is most fulfilling and satisfactory(given the cost vs benefits). As we have been welcomed by friendly staff member over the reception once we arrived to hotel from shuttle/bus service arranged by Srilankan Airlines(approx. 30 min from airport), they have provided us with welcome drink and let us have the keys to the room in no time, The room are quiet spacious for me and my wife, it was really neat and clean with all the necessary items provided like soap , towel and bed sheets, the furniture was old but luxurious , the bathroom was really spacious and clean with shower facility, Although, the hotel may look old from outside ( due to some wear and tear because of it's location near the beach-side) but it war really managed and maintained in good condition. The food we had their was amazing specially the vegetable soup as an appetizer, during our stay we got check in at day time (11:00 am to 9:30 pm) , there was two hotel boys that were accommodating us in lobby and at dining, they were really polite and respectful and were looking after us in every manner(not because they are hospitality workers but they were genuinely looking after us whatever way they could, you could sense the vibe), even one of the younger hotel boy was recommending us to have a beach view which was just near the hotel-side swimming pool, it was really a great view to watch and walk(150 meter from hotel back-view near the pool). We went out for a walk (can't go more than 500 meters due to transit visa) outside on the main road/street on which the hotel was located, the people were quite friendly and polite , they were quick to know that we are travelers and were welcoming us with polite gestures. This hotel reservation was for my return journey and on both occasions (on my way to destination and returning back home) Srilankan Airlines have made the bookings and reservations and they were both really great. P.S. :- As we have just traveled in recent times (between April 2022-May 2022) in which there were some disturbance and political instability was going on, we never had an issue during our trip, the only thing that I notice was long queue(1km+) of cars , bikes and auto-rikshaw for the petrol/ gas station waiting for their turn patiently. I would recommend ,whoever is thinking to fly to Srilanka or via Srilanka should booked their tickets and enjoy the hospitality of this wonderful country and it's people.

The fridge and the TV in room didn't work, the pool was green, the bar photographed on their web site is closed and has mould growing up all the the walls. We had to sweep many cigarette butts away from the landing outside our front door, most of the pot plants around the property have long been dead, I could go with more on but you get the picture.

As my husband and I pondered on where we would like to stay in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 for 14 days of quarantine, we choose Negombo 🌴 And the only hotel offering Level 1 Certified quarantine hotel was Catamaran Beach Hotel and were we blessed to be accommodated so efficiently before we even left America 🇺🇸. All our documents we’re settled and ready for our arrival. Even at the airport, the hotel was contacted and affirmed our reservation. When we arrived very tired after 36 hour travel and 3 planes ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ we were welcomed with mask 😷 smiles 😉. You could just tell by the eyes 😍. We received the best room over looking the pool and view to the ocean and oh by the way a darling little Tuxedo black and white kitty 🐈‍⬛ who became our terrace companion. In the meantime I had contemplated how was I going to be here for 14 days and yet we spent this time with other Indonesian occupants that were a lot of fun and we spent a good time in the pool and taking pictures of all the beautiful sunsets, along with delicious food that made this adventure a real quarantine paradise. Just to mention a few names: Lahira who was right there whenever we needed anything and treated us like a friend; Nishanika giving me hope when the kitty seemed to not be feeling well; and our fun and great chef 👨🏽‍🍳 Pradeep, along with all the other staff, we were serviced well with a sense of no bother. We hope to go back to Negombo Christmas and the Catamaran Beach Hotel will be our Christmas 🎄 paradise resort to stay at again with hopes to see the little kitty and all the new staff friends we met🤩

I booked two nights here as I needed to be in a Level 1 Certified hotel due to Covid. I had left everything till the last minute but the team at the hotel and behind the scenes were amazing. They sorted all my paperwork and I was ready to go in a day and a half! Once I arrived I was treated with great respect. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I loved the food. In the end I extended my stay as it was so peaceful to be there. They sorted out my taxi to leave the hotel. I definitely recommend this place.

This place is great to stay 1 night when you need to go 1 night in quarantine. (This is a rule when you want to visit Sri Lanka when you fully vaccinated) They tell me my results coming after 24 hours but Shanilka (reception lady) Did her best for me and my results (from the PCR test) coming very quickly in the morning. So I sleep 1 night in the hotel and early morning I can leave the hotel. This staff is very sweet and Do everything for you! Specialy Shanilka arrange all my documents very quickly. Also when I book my hotel this people (specialy Malisha and Hiran) on the headoffice arrange all my documents what I need, they very quickly respond my email and arrange all my papers I need to travel (you need to arrange a lot of documents now when you want to visit Sri Lanka because of corona). Definitely I will book this hotel again because this help was great! Kind Regards, Priyanka
