Cheela Plains Station Stay

Stayed one night en-route to Karijini in the Quail Room. Really enjoyed the stay. The room was well appointed with small kitchenette and had a relaxing outdoor space with uninterrupted views over the station. The restaurant offered well serviced generous dinner and good selection for continental breakfast including fresh fruit...and coffee. The staff provided a useful map and good instructions for the 4x4 trails which took us on an adventure further into the property. This is real twitcher territory with an amazing array of birdlife. Plenty of tranquil spots to relax and interest geological formations (mini Karijini) The camp sites looked clean and friendly, happy to return with the family and camper trailer next time.

Will never stay again, have been coming here for a number of years and it has gone down hill….this year was the worst experience ever and will never stay again…. Left 5 days early because of the complete and utter rudeness and to be honest I would have been happier camping at the free camp up the road…. Just out right rude people….

Fantastic place to stay with reception Kelly being an energetic and happy hostess. It was great cabin accommodation on a working property. The self guided drives to on property creeks and great scenery was amazing. A great sunset lookout 200 metres from the cafe . Highly recommend a few days stay here. Anthony

Amazing oasis in the desert in the midst of rugged beauty. Accomodation options from own tent, supplied tent, caravan sites, self contained etc Top quality food at Red plains cafe. Wow amazing station stay fabulous staff , great amenities , camp kitchen , cafe/restaurant, we had a meal and it was amazing especially the blueberry pie , great company at our table including a young couple from France. the sun sets were unreal , loved this place.

I travelled with a group of artists to spend a week in the Pilbara and our few days at Cheela Plains were the highlight of our trip. The accommodation was perfect - airconditioned with a cosy bed and fridge - and right next to the shower block. We were blown away by the quality of the meals - which were absolutely restaurant quality. What's most special though is the station's spot - it's hard not to be impressed with the landscape and the age of the place. The gorge is spectacular and the Lazy C mountain at sunrise is something I'll never forget.
