Margarita House

I've visited Margarita House five times now, each time travelling for work in Ngong. The staff are wonderful; Gladys, Natasha and the rest of the team are all lovely people and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one. The rooms are quite basic, but spacious. The rooms with a balcony in the main building, looking over the main courtyard, are the best. There is a small pool and gym, and the gardens are relaxing. If you're interested in wildlife, you'll see visiting birds and monkeys. WiFi is about the best you'll get in Kenya, and when it went 'down' one time in all my travels, the team quickly made sure a 3G/4G router was available to reconnect us. I once travelled during a period of uncertainty (elections) and the 24/7 security made me feel very safe. The hotel can be contacted directly to organise transport from the airport (which typically takes 45 minutes). I strongly advise this option if you haven't visited Nairobi before; they will wait patiently for you even if your flight is delayed. Food choice was reasonable, as were portion sizes - and you can choose to eat at the pool, in the restaurant or even in your room. I'd like to see more dessert options! The welcome drink on arrival is always gratefully received after a long flight. I've stayed in the 5* hotels near the airport before, but I prefer being in Karen, in the quiet, with excellent customer service and chilled (Kenyan!) vibe. I cannot recommend this lovely serene hotel more. I stayed 3 nights in all and the staff were all incredibly kind and helpful during my stay. They gave me a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the gardens. I had breakfast outside in the morning and the pool was welcome after a long day. Beds are comfy, hot water plenty, food delicious. I cannot fault this place and will definitely go back next time I am in Nairobi.

I and my son visited the Margarita House for almost a week. The place was so perfect and the staff was most amazing. The food was really good as well. I would certainly visit again. It’s an oasis in a busy city which is just an Uber away. Thank you and I hope I’ll see you again

Our 8 day stay at the Margarita house was lovely! The staff was the best part! We were greeted by name every day (and we were a group of 5!); everyone was extremely personable and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the grounds and gardens beautiful. This guesthouse provides everything you need for a stay in Nairobi! The food there was also delicious, however, the wait time could be a bit long. Once we were prepared for this, it was no problem!

We had a wonderful time here while we were in nairobi! Karen is a beautiful part of Nairobi, and one of the affluent suburbs. Margarita house was our first stop when we arrived in kenya following our first night in the crowne plaza and it really was much better suited to us as a family with a toddler. Lovely pool, garden and climbing frame with slide. Dennis attended to put every need, getting in our preferred drinks, and providing snacks and really made our stay completely relaxing and enjoyable! The two wonderful women on reception also made us feel so welcome and watched our toddler in the TV room while we briefly packed. Also located a short drive from numerous shopping centres! One of which had a square with all sorts of ride on animals and cars which was perfect!

First off, the staff were amazingly accommodating throughout our 4 day stay in the Karen neighborhood of Nairobi. They consistently went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and as as secure as possible! The rooms were clean, the food was always cooked fresh off the grill. Travel from the Margarita House was easy, UBER's were plentiful and probably the most economical way to get around to all area's of the city. Every driver we had was friendly and had no issues when chatting in English. Tips #1 - Because there are so many UBER drivers in the area, they will often offer to wait for you at your drop off point to make sure you don't have to wait for another when your done touring. #2 - Make sure you do accept rides from actual UBER drivers. There are some independent drivers who will say they're with UBER and will only accept cash at your destination point. This could be scary as they decide to take their route to a destination without being tracked on a route by an application and like we said, the money transaction. If your looking for a stay with comfortable Kenyan charm and access to everything one would need during some persons downtime or as a stop over between safari's , then we suggest this would be the perfect place to climatize yourself the the Kenyan culture.
