Amymone Suites

The suite was comfortable and nicely decorated with a view of the harbor. The real treat was the breakfast, served at the associated Wild Duck restaurant downstairs - an all-you-can-eat buffet of egg dishes, Greek yogurt, fruit, cheeses made by one of the owners, baked goods, served with tasty cappucinos and fresh-squeezed orange juice. We ate in the open-air seating right on the harbor. One of my favorite memories of our 2-week trip.

This was a superb place to stay in Naflion. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the water which was lovely to sit out on at night. The room was huge and beautifully furnished. The staff were very friendly and the position is perfect for exploring the old town. We loved it.

We were allocated an attic room. We asked for a normal room but they were fully booked. The attic room is up 3 flights of steep narrow stairs that would not pass code in most countries. If you are over 5 foot tall you must crouch to access anywhere but the centre of the room. My head still has marks. The hotel and room are decorated in shabby chic which might have been ok 10 years ago but now looks very grungey. An old mattress on the floor instead of a couch.

Do note that the best room (suite with a balcony + bourtzi castle and sea view) comes with two unexpected surprises: (1) a smell of a sewage which surrounds the whole room; and (2) a refusal to a refund arising from a cheaper price of the alternative room allocated ... If this fit your expectation - go ahead and book the room. Yes, I am aware to the high rating of the hotel. This is why I choosed it. But as I have experienced it, the high rating does injustice with potential guests. They might fall into a trap and find themselves in a smelly room. It should be noted that there was a consent about the sewage smell in the room. They tried to explain that the smell is: (1) because of the air-condition; on the next day - (2) as the hotel is in the middle of the old town near the port... (The recording of the conversation is with me, so beaware of a false response...) quite a poor explanation, to say the least. Never have I read any comment about any hotel in the old part of Nafpilio suffering from a sewage smell. Due to the undisputed sewage smeel, they agreed to allocate me another room, some 25% cheaper and with no smell. However, despite of the 45€ per night difference (90€ for 2 nights), the manager, Dimitra, agreed to refund me only 10€ per night... This is manifestly unscrupulous. Read, take the above into your considerations and decide if all this unpleasentness suits you while having a vacation.

We had a standard room on the second floor - good size, nicely decorated, comfy bed, very quiet with nice bathroom and super towels. Breakfast is good especially the freshly squeezed orange juice and spinach tart. The location couldn't be better, right in the centre, steps from the harbour with free parking. If you have any mobility issues, it's not a good option as the stairs are very, very steep.

I would stay here again We stayed in the loft upstairs which was very comfortable. A deck towards the city and a skylight to the sea view. A great location and quiet. Had all the amenities of shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer and lots of space. It is 55 steps to get up there though. Breakfast is free next door and very good, staff was very friendly.
