El Sol Monteverde

We absolutely loved our stay at El Sol. It really is a special place. The accommodation was clean, bright, comfortable and uniquely decorated. It really felt like a home from home. The location was perfect to explore the cloud forest and all the wildlife and adventures on offer. We loved watching the sunsets from the pool area and the pool was especially popular with the teenagers. The breakfast was as phenomenal - so generous and so gorgeous! We plan to try and recreate this at home to give us happy memories from our stay. Thank you Javier for looking after us so well and for all your recommendations, in Monteverde and beyond!!

El Sol Monteverde is a stunningly beautiful place to relax and just enjoy your surroundings. We stayed as a group of 4, including 2 teenagers (17 & 15). The cabin was fun with its decor and a hammock on the deck. The grounds are breathtaking and you can actually feel yourself relaxing just walking around. There is a small pool which is sufficient since it is a small groupings of cabins. Breakfast was included and delivered to us each morning and it was amazing! We also ordered dinner one evening and that was also amazing. Javier, the owner, does it all from checking us in, helping with activities and cooking the meals. He is definitely top notch. El Sol Monteverde also offers laundry service for a small fee which was a definite must for our family since we tried to pack lighter but scheduled a lot of activities. Whatever we turned in was returned to us by the time we returned from our activities.

El Sol is fantastic. Accommodations are comfortable and inviting. Breakfast is served every morning and tastes wonderful. The pool is beautiful with an amazing view. Perhaps most impressive was the management’s attentiveness to the little details. Feel comfortable having them book activities and tours. The owner was a nature guide for almost 20 years and is crazy knowledgeable. Check out the meadow and the coffee plantation. If you are a birder you will not be disappointed. If I could, I would give this place 6 stars!

This is one of the nicest accommodations I’ve ever stayed at. Pre-check in I got a message welcoming, helping with directions and pointing out scenic stops on route. The check in was easy and the owner super friendly. Bungalow was comfortable, fully stocked and had an amazing view. The food was delicious and fresh. We didn’t enjoy the pool but it was beautiful!

The El Sol exceeded all of our expectations. If you want a laid back environment where you can just lose yourself and be surrounded by nature, great views of the local landscape, along with great accommodations this is the perfect place. Just a reminder that is not within walking distance to town so transportation will need to be arranged. An additional bonus is the owner and staff are awesome people and do everything they can to meet your needs. Having never been to Costa Rica, the El Sol left such an impression on us that we will return on our next trip.

12/10 stars!!! This is really a special place to stay. It is such an oasis among the mountains. If you’re going to Monteverde and want a peaceful and beautiful place to stay, this is it. The team were so accommodating and the place had everything we needed. The breakfast was really good and brought right to our room. We were all sad to leave this true gem behind when it was time to go.
