Our visit to the facility with our Australian group was nothing short of extraordinary! We were thrilled to enjoy five amazing rooms, perfectly situated just steps away from the sanctuary. The hospitality was off the charts—every moment felt carefully curated and incredibly attentive. Every meal was a delightful. The amenities truly blew us away, and everything was incredibly accessible, making our stay even more enjoyable. While the gym could use a little upgrade, it barely dented the excitement of our experience. From the instant we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere wrapped around us like a warm hug, continuing all the way to our check-out. It was an unforgettable experience bursting with warmth and exhilaration!

We came to SL in April 2024 for a short visit from NZ and visited Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, then stayed a night at Thuduwa Camp with another family. It was a wonderful experience for our families together at a peaceful, yet an attractive location. We booked two triple rooms, one a stand alone family unit and another one, converted to a quadruple. Rooms were simple, but a great specious design, bathrooms were great and clean too. I cannot go without saying how delicious the food was. We had fried rice, chicken devilled, vegetable chopsuey, onion & tomatoes salad and chili paste for dinner. We loved it, so delicious and kids kept eating. We were offered many options for breakfast, we stopped at string hoppers, red rice, fish curry, coconut sambol (the best I had in SL), dhaal curry, and potato & chili tempered (again the best I had in SL), we loved it so much and were exceptional. Special mention is needed for Iroshan and Hasaranga who looked after us so well, very professional and were so caring, thank you again boys.. Keep doing what you are doing!! Our recent stay at Mandara Rosen Yala was a genuinely pleasant experience. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness was evident, and the staff were consistently helpful, making our visit thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast each morning provided a good start to the day, while the dinner buffet was particularly impressive, offering a fabulous spread that was a highlight of our evenings. The hotel's serene atmosphere allowed us to relax and recharge, which was much appreciated after exploring the local area. We felt welcomed and valued as guests throughout our stay, thanks to the attentive service. If our travels bring us back to Kataragama, Mandara Rosen Yala will certainly be our hotel of choice once more. It's an establishment that promises comfort and excellent dining experiences.

Big Game Camp in Yala is ideal for anyone looking for authentic jungle camp experience but with slightly better amenities. The camp has a tent based setup with just a fan and an attached commode and bath area in the tent. But the overall look is still aesthetic. Activities like bonfire with candlelight dinner, evening and night excursions, and relaxation area within the camp make the stay special. Staff is extremely polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Booking a jungle safari for Yala with Big Game is a good idea because it will make the entire process smooth for you with door-to-door pick up and drop and packed breakfast for the safari. A few things to note for your stay: 1. Carry handheld fans if you are travelling during the hot season because the camp only has floor fans including the tent. 2. Carry mosquito repellent sprays 3. Don’t carry too many snacks/confectioneries to the camp because you will not be able to keep them with you in the tent. Team has lockers and a fridge where you can store any eatable items you bring. 4. Water in the taps is hard so think before using too much soap or washing hair. 5. There is no a la carté menu to order food. You will have to eat what camp kitchen serves. They serve a 3 course meal for lunch and dinner with an option to choose between vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal. 6. For less than 4 people, try to avoid booking a private safari. Most jungle safari jeeps have 6 seats and it’s a waste of money to book an entire jeep for just 2-3 people.
