My experience at Rosa Beach Monastir was far from what the travel agency promised. The photos online must be at least a decade old, as the reality was shocking. Instead of a four-star resort, the hotel barely deserved two stars. The room was in terrible condition—non-functioning air conditioning, stained carpets, smelly bed linen, and rock-hard pillows. The bathroom was filthy, with a dirty bathtub, clogged drain, moldy tiles, and a cracked sink. Even the furniture was falling apart, and the balcony window was cracked. The staff only made things worse. While the receptionists were polite, the housekeeping staff was unprofessional, spending most of their time gossiping about guests instead of cleaning. If you tipped one person, others would start following you, expecting money as well. One cleaner lied, claiming it was her last day just to get a tip—only to be seen cleaning another section later. Even when I hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign, the cleaner knocked twice daily, ignoring my request for privacy while my sick child tried to rest. The restaurant was disappointing. The furniture was old and worn out, and the food was repetitive, with no suitable options for children, despite the hotel’s “family-friendly” claims. When I asked about the kids’ club, I was taken to a dusty storage room filled with junk, clearly abandoned. The pools were in awful condition, but the indoor pool was the worst. Mold covered the walls, paint was peeling off, and the musty smell was overwhelming. Out of three showers, only one worked, and the entire space felt completely neglected. The beach was also a mess, covered in plastic waste, with the hotel’s straw umbrellas broken and thrown away. One of the most frustrating moments was dealing with the hotel’s shopkeeper. I had booked a camel and donkey ride for my son, but when he got seriously ill, I asked to cancel or exchange it for a trip to the city. At first, the man agreed, but then he changed his attitude, saying, “You don’t need to go to the city, just buy everything in my shop.” I simply needed food for my sick child, as he couldn’t eat anything from the hotel, but he didn’t care. At first glance, the hotel seemed decent, but past the reception, it was a disaster. Rude staff, constant begging for tips, and poor hygiene ruined what should have been a relaxing holiday. I would never return and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
