Westenra Arms Hotel

We went to the Westenra for a girl's night out with work and it was brilliant from start to finish. Pauric and his team gave us a very warm welcome. There were 11 of us, and we were kindly seated in the lobby with a waiter taking our drinks - such a lovely touch! We had a great table upstairs in the bar; spacious, airy, and perfect for chatting without having to shout. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for facilitating a great night out - 10/10!

Stayed here for the June bank Holiday. Was woken at 7.00 AM with the sound of a power washer. Fumes in the window and after hour I went to reception to be informed that the Council was washing path. I got night porter to open door and the hotel was being washed down the walls and the Side of the building. Fumes in the rooms and feeling sick. Complained that morning and wrote and E mail at 7.40 AM on the same day. No reply after 2 weeks and made a call. Got a reply after 2 days saying sorry and Washing company,s fault and they are insured ?. Rang again to seek clarifications re the E mail and Ciaran apologized and said he would ring back the next day after he spoke to the general manager. After one more E mail to Ciaran I have still heard nothing from the hotel after 2 weeks. After being woken at 7.AM on the Bank holiday Monday and feeling sick with the fumes in the room. Terrible customer care and terrible experience.

Two couples stayed for one night meeting up with relatives from the Monaghan area. We had dinner which was excellent and the service was superb. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful and nothing to much trouble. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. We would highly recommend the Westenra Arms Hotel. Ger & Anne

Need to update their bar menu prices.. we viewed the menu in advance online & got a shock when menus were handed to us! Everything was almost 2 to 3 euro more expensive that advertised!! A dessert was 9.50, 10 & 10.50 at the cheapest. Absolute rip off... hence to say we didn't order it.. has got very expensive all round..

Stayed here for 2 nights on a work trip where we had to make some last minute changes to the booking. The team at the Westerna were so accommodating and we enjoyed top notch service (even when 4 of us arrived for dinner as the kitchen was closing, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us). The hotel lobby is beautiful and the food quality at dinner and breakfast was excellent. Staff also took great care of my food allergy. The hotel is located in the centre of town with private parking at no extra cost.

We stayed one night at the Monaghan and loved the staff, our room, and the restaurant. It was a Sunday and the place was busy. Our dinner and breakfasts were delicious, beds were comfortable, and the staff were accommodating and lovely. The reception staff was kind, the manager was happy to help us with bags, and everyone was helpful to the older patrons who were also staying there. Summer is busy and most hotels like the Westenra Arms have trouble getting and keeping staff. We understand how that can affect the quality of service.
