Motel Melrose

Motel is clean and well priced close to town. Meets the purpose of a cheap one night getaway without the perks. It is comfy and facilities are as expected. Check-in is a streamlined process with no interaction with staff with access PIN sent by text. Overall, ok for what i needed.

The room was clean, fairly standard but affordable. The motel is located on a main road but you can use the air conditioner to drown out the traffic and train noise. The photos of the motel were probably taken after a renovation - it needs another reno. The small bathroom was original 60s. Pink shower, blue toilet. Noisy fan. The hand basin is located outside of the bathroom - and the vanity top was all chipped around the edges. The bed was comfortable but the electric blanket only worked on one side of the bed. There was a hole in the carpet. You are given a PIN number to access the room and it is sent to you on the day of your arrival. I didn’t receive the pin - so messaged the motel. The hotel responded: That’s because you didn’t put +61 in your phone number as requested when booking.

Regular old school roadside motel, decent price for a nights sleep, convenient location on the main stretch of road for travellers. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Downside is this style of motel the rooms adjoin each other with what appeared to be a thin wall. Person in the room next to us went out and got home around midnight, could hear him sitting at the front door table and chairs playing pokies on his phone followed by about 2 hours of throwing up noises. Bathroom old fashioned but clean. Air con and heating worked well. Close to dinner options Lights at the front door must be set on a timer and we struggled to get our infant to sleep because our room was lit up through the blinds.

We stayed at the Motel Melrose for 1 night on our way home to Melbourne from Queensland. We were pleasantly surprised!! We stayed in a family room (Room 12) which also allowed our dog. It was very nicely decorated (recently renovated). Extremely comfy beds which even had electric blankets for the colder nights. Great heating and cooling. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very small and older style but very very clean. After reading some of the reviews we were very very happy with our room and our stay. I would highly recommend this motel!
