The Beach House

After reading some poor reviews of this hotel, I was dubious about booking it. However, as I was booking at the last minute and most other hotels in the area were already booked, I decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did. The hotel room, we were in the loft, was beautiful, lovely and bright and extremely spacious. There were 2 separate rooms, and both were spotlessly clean. The beds were lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean with a shower over the bath. The shower was lovely, nice and hot and powerful. There was even a radio that had blue tooth which I could connect to so we could have some music in the room. The breakfast was nice we had full english and I couldn't fault anything. We didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast, so I can’t comment on the rest of the food. The location is beautiful right on the beach and a 5 minute walk into the town which has a few shops, cafes and restaurants. The staff were all generally friendly and helpful, particularly Stuart. All in all I would say ignore all the negative reviews of this hotel, I would definitely recommend it.

We traveled 3 hours to here for a family meal and although the staff were very friendly the service was appalling. There were 5 adults in the party and after we had ordered we had to wait one and a half hours for our food which was very mediocre to say the least. I had the chicken tarragon salad which had absolutely no taste and the lettuce was swimming in water and clearly hadn’t been dried of at all before putting in the bowl. My daughter had salad, garlic bread and macaroni cheese and we have both had upset stomachs since. When I ordered a tea I was told the urn was broken and despite it being a hotel they couldn’t seem to find a kettle or boil a saucepan of water absolutely disgusting. Certainly wouldn’t recommend this to anybody and won’t be returning next time we meet my Aunt and Uncle. So disappointing!!!

A bit of a mixed review but overall, a really beautiful hotel with a gorgeous view out the back to the beach. We stayed over valentine's weekend for 1 night in room 22. We booked really late so probably got one of the last rooms which faced the front of the road, no sea view for us. The room itself was spacious with a comfy bed but unfortunately the bathroom was gross. No ventilation and old windows has led to lots of black mould in the shower and ceiling - photos attached. The bathroom radiator wasn't working (which we reported that afternoon when we found out) but was told there was no maintenance on site so it would not be fixed - no one even came to look at it for us! And no other room to move too. So the bathroom was mouldy and freezing and the main shower head didn't work either. Again, we reported this in the evening but was met with a staff member who just said sorry about that. No attempt to try and appease us. On a plus side, we are dinner in the restaurant, food was delish, as was the breakfast and when we checked out and mentioned our unhappiness to another member of staff, he was very apologetic and took our meal off our bill as a gesture which we were happy with. Beautiful old hotel and would absolutely recommend, as long as you're not met with a horrid bathroom like ours. We chatted to other residents who reported no issues with their room so it must be a one off!
