Villa Pomme d'Or

We received a very warm welcome with tea, candies, dates, and almonds. The reception area was warm with a crackling fire. Our room was on the main floor near the dining room looking out over the pool. It had a large living room with two couches and then the next room was the bedroom with a king size bed and a good size bathroom. The rooms were heated as needed and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Our dinner was included in our package and the beef tajine was amazing. Breakfast was also included and was extensive and delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice right from the machine to our table. Lovely people, offering an excellent stay on what is essentially a stop over between two places on a very long drive. A small walk around was interesting but the town itself is not really an attraction so much is a way station.

This very pleasant guest house is more like a European villa than the more traditional Moroccan Riad. It has a large, airy, interior surrounded by very pleasant en suite rooms. Outside is a very welcoming and well kept pool. We ate in and had a very good meal served by a polite and informative waiter. This is a very pleasant place to stay if you are heading for the desert.

There's not a lot around this town. It is probably the nicest hotel in the area. The property is very secure and you have to ring the doorbell any time you want to go back in. The room I got which was the largest room available was very cosy. It is like a bed and breakfast. Very very large with a separate living room, bedroom and bathroom. The problem was the water in the bathroom sink. Strangely when you turned the tap on for a while, the water would accumulate and the drain looked stuck. It took a while for them to fix it and I had to leave the room for an hr or so before it was fixed. It still wasn't really fixed and the water took ages to become hot. It was a very cold December evening but they have heating in every room but it wasn't too warm. I had to sleep with a lot of clothes on! Bear in mind there are no lifts so if you have heavy luggage like me, you can't go and stay in the upper floors. I am not sure there's a better option in town. This is it!

We had high expectations with this place being so well rated and even star listed in lonely planet but our family were at a loss to see what people were so impressed by. Our welcome was warm but not exceptional. The room was very dated, our 10 year old brought the bags to the room with my husband while my daughter and I finished our tea. Our 10 year old said to our 7 year old, you won’t like it. I asked why and he just said you will see.. He was right, it was dark, no window in the main room with heavy interior curtains and other fabrics. It was a step back in time and the walls were cracked and had flaking paint. Just not anything we would get excited about. The upside was it was clean and very spacious. The location in the town is quiet but walkable to the central area. Parking outside monitored on cctv. The pool looks good but unfortunately we didn’t have time to try it or breakfast. Our car was washed for us in the morning but having just picked up the rental the day before it was clean already. It’s a nice touch but for us we felt we had to tip for something we didn’t need. This place is perfectly fine for a stop over but certainly not the highlight of our trip!

Interesting home with great hospitality nice rooms & surprisingly good restaurant offerings at an affordable price. Elegant pool & garden area—a bit cool outside air temperature discouraged us from trying it out. Safe area, wonderful fruit offerings. Omelettes for breakfast!
