Overall a lovely hotel. Negatives are black mold between tub and tub surround and also around the grab bar. Needs bleach and detailed cleaning. Carpeting in room needs shampoo or replaced. Sheer curtain is ripped,

We had a bus tour with 43 people and everyone was very pleased with the choice. The Inn is beautiful, the service was excellent . I worked with Deb to book the grouo and she was excellent. Breakfast choices were good. The hotel was clean and rooms nice size, the grounds are beautiful . Excellent choice I’d stay there again

Absolutely beautiful property in the heart of Amish county. Essenhaus is a destination in itself! Shopping, food, hiking trails, relaxing destination. Amazing decor throughout the Inn. Meticulously clean. Delicious extensive continental breakfast. Yummy cookies on hand for guests. Friendly and helpful staff.

Although the room was spacious and meticulously clean our stay was anything but pleasant. We could not sit on our outside room patio because bird droppings were all over the chairs and table We were kept awake past midnight by the neighbors. There were people in their room with the door open with another group outside laughing and talking loudly outside our door. Despite the late night we were awaken around 6 am with again loudly talking and laughing that went on until after 7 when they left for breakfast. We also left for breakfast at 9 o’clock. The breakfast was included with our stay. When we arrived in the breakfast area we found all the hot food empty. We were told by the staff member servicing the breakfast that they were out of food. There would be a wait if they got more biscuits and gravy. We went to the hotel desk and told them what we experienced. Breakfast was supposed to be open until 10 o’clock yet at 9 they were out of food. We were given 25% off voucher to go to the restaurant. We will not stay here again.

May have a bit dated decor, but it’s cute and like stepping into the 80s. We liked it so much because the grounds were beautiful, the rooms were spacious, the pool and hot tub were nice, as was the free breakfast. The most important thing was, this place is super clean! I even checked the chair rails in the hallways and some of the furniture and never detected any dust! It was the perfect location for our cousins reunion. Bravo, Essenhaus!

just now New Vacation | Couple This is the first time we have ever stayed here. We usually stay at the Blue Gate Garden Inn ten mins down the road. Upon check in we found it to be very similar to Blue Gate. I told the front desk lady this was our first time staying here and she was really friendly. She shared with us where everything was and welcomed us. The rooms were clean, but sinks were yellowed from age. This didn’t bother me because everything was clean. Where it went wrong and the reason I will never return here was at breakfast the next morning. While going through the breakfast line, I picked up the biscuit utensil, took a biscuit out of the pan, and placed the utensils back in the biscuit pan. Instead of on the plate next to it. My husband was a few steps behind me and I thought I will just put gravy on my biscuit while I wait for him to catch up. (I help him with items that have more than one step. He is beginning stages of Alzheimer’s) while I was putting the gravy on my biscuit the breakfast lady came up next to me and took the utensil off the biscuit pan and SLAMED it onto the plate beside it. The whole room stopped and looked at what was happening. I was quite embarrassing! I was dumb founded by it all! I was not even done dishing up my plate! I apologized for not putting the utensil back on the plate and she made a angry face at me and shook her head! Everyone was still staring at us. My husband, who had just come up to me to have me help him with his biscuit backed off and was so shook up by the commotion that it left me standing there with a biscuit mid air waiting for him to return his plate to me. (I had picked up the utensil again after the breakfast lady had slammed it down to continue getting our breakfast) My husband kept saying, “that’s okay, I don’t want….but he did, he just was afraid to go near that lady and was so confused by what was happening! I finally said. You have to let me put this on your plate. I can’t put it back in the tray. Once serving him, I did tell the lady I am sorry that my not placing the utensil immediately on the plate made her so angry that she felt she had to slam it on the plate. She then responded with, “I didn’t slam it in the plate, I dropped it”, which everyone in the room knew was a lie! (I was very upset at this point.) in fact I went down to the front desk and informed them what had happen. We travel a lot and I have never experienced anything like that. The lady at the front desk said she would share this with her manager. She said the breakfast lady was wrong, and would go up and stand there while we got our breakfast the next day. We skipped breakfast the next day and just checked out. We won’t be back to this hotel
