The front desk officer doesn't appear to be very helpful. I have stayed here before, but in the new building, which is clean and modern. For some reason, I overlooked the booking, and it was in the older building. The room is quite dated and smells like an antique shop. We called the front desk immediately after entering the room to inquire about switching to another room, as I am sensitive to smells and staying in this room for three nights, especially over New Year's Eve, would have been a problem. The officer didn’t sound happy at all and made us feel like it was a hassle to check with her manager about room availability. In the end, we had to pay an additional TWD 3,600 for an "upgrade" to the new building.
The highlight of the stay is the New Year fireworks displayed by the hotel.
