Joshua Grindle Inn

Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, beds, and pillows. Very friendly and accommodating hosts! The breakfast in the morning is yummy (including home made scones!) It’s walking distance from all the best places in town and you can see the ocean. There’s even a friendly cat!

The experience and inn is just fantastic! Great setting and Grindles are just right in everything they do from breakfast to rooms to firepit! Meadowview was quiet and great with deck and chairs to enjoy the surroundings. Steps into village and all the wonderful amenities!

This place is an absolute gem. Everyone was so friendly (including the resident cat who would come out to greet us each morning), the scones were delicious, and the garden totally stunning. We stayed in Tower II and it was perfectly quaint and cozy for weathering the ill march weather. For anyone looking to stay in the area I'd quickly recommend this place.

Mendocino is worth the twisty drive to get there. My wife and I enjoyed our one-night stay at the Joshua Grindle house. We stayed in the lower level of the water tower (photo). The room was roomy, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good. The owner Ken was friendly and informative. We recommend it!

The Joshua Grindle Inn sparkles with hospitality, food preparation, service, quality furnishings, cleanliness, and attention to detail. I highly recommend it. The Inn is exclusively owned by an energetic husband and wife with a passion for happy guests and repeat business. No outside pressures to increase revenue or cut costs. Mendocino is a great place to visit. There are several Inns in the city to choose from, but not all are the same. The Inn’s location is excellent. It is quiet. It is a short walk to museums, historic sites, coffee shops, and restaurants. The Inn provides each room with a list of top recommended restaurants. In addition to its location, it has a flower garden and trees, and a lawn that wraps around the Inn. A short walk also takes you to the cliffs overlooking The Big River, a historic landmark of three masted sailing ships which frequented Mendocino in the 1800s, and its historic commerce before, during, and after the Civil War. You can walk the cliffs and the beaches below. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there. The Joshua Grindle Inn is and will always be our first choice. Try it. You be the judge.

What lovely accommodation! We stayed on the 2nd floor of the Water Tower. The room was very well equipped and cosy, with 2 very comfortable armchairs and a log burner had we needed it. On arrival we were given a map and advice on what to see and do, and there was additional comprehensive information in the room. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade granola, scones and banana bread. Lovely to be able to sit outside on the decking to enjoy it, watching the humming birds!
