I give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family. It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly. The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying ”connect to D-link”, there was mostly no internet with that link. The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean. I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.

Ottima struttura ben tenuta; le camere in stile africano con copertura di paglia sono molto spaziose e complete di tutto (frigo, condizionatore, tv etc); bagni completi e puliti. La struttura è in costante manutenzione. I giardini sono molto ben tenuti. Il personale è gentile e disponibile ma parla poco inglese ed ha la flemma tipica del posto. Colazione e ristorazione serale non male ma poco internazionale; soprattutto la cena alla carte non è il massimo quanto a quantità molto meglio i buffet…in particolare quello di mare con vassoi di ricci, ostriche, cozze e vongole locali da far invidia. Animazione diurna completamente assente, quella serale invece alterna serate piacevoli a lagne indicibili!. Piscina piccola ma ben tenuta. Spiaggia ampia ma il mare almeno in agosto non è il massimo con alghe spesso presenti e colore dell’acqua poco attraente.

We stayed in one of the beachfront bungalows and it was an excellent stay. The bungalow was right on the beach with a veranda with 2 chairs and 2 sun loungers under a thatched parasol. The room which was air conditioned was very clean and cleaned daily. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our bungalow was fairly close to the reception / dining complex which meant we had some noise from the various entertainments but it wasn't too intrusive. Some bungalows are further away but that means a longer walk to get to the restaurant etc. The grounds are beautiful and scrupulously maintained, as is the beach which is very clean with safe bathing areas. There are 2 pools, but we didn't use them. The food is good with a wide selection. I would hesitate to call it excellent but we were pleased with the quality and choice. We only used the buffet, there is an a la carte restaurant but we didn't use it. The overwhelming majority of the visitors are French, consequently we found that very few of the staff spoke good English. We managed OK with our very basic French but some may struggle. We found it difficult to change money. Sterling is not accepted and the ATM in the hotel only accepts Visa cards - when it is working. They do accept payment in Euros. We would recommend the Royal Horizon Baobab and would happily go there again.

We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights with our two young children and some friends who also had their kids with them. We found it a real mix - the setting was really beautiful - gorgeous beach, lovely pool and nice looking huts to stay in, but there were lots of annoying problems throughout the holiday. Firstly, the food looked pretty decent - but it tasted fairly average unfortunately. As the hotel is all inclusive, this left us feeling like we were a bit stuck for dinner (although we ended up going to another hotel to eat a couple of times for a bit of variation). The puddings in particular weren't great - they looked awesome, but often just didn't taste of very much. Secondly, dinner is from 8-10pm. Maybe this is fine for many guests from the Mediterranean, but it was really late for our kids (who are normally in bed by 8) and there was no flexibility offered and no way of ordering dinner early from the restaurant or something. That left us with ratty kids getting tired and staying up late, or going to bed hungry. Another annoyance was the very loud music being pumped out by the pool. The clientele when we were there were hardly 18-30 party animals - almost everyone either had kids or were in the older age bracket, so it didn't seem to fit and ruined the general feeling of peace on the beach and down by the sea. The loud music continued into the night with raucous drum performances every few nights and loud music and singing on others. That started at 10pm and went on for a couple of hours most nights, keeping us and the kids up even later. For families I would recommend asking to stay further away from the restaurant so this would be less of an issue. Also, although there weren't many mosquitoes visibly around, even in the evenings, we got bitten to death at night. There were no mosquito nets over the beds and I assume that they were getting in through the thatched roof as we weren't able to track them down and get rid of them. My little one got 50 bites over a couple of nights and I had a couple of dozen - even using DEET and trying to cover up at night. I could barely sleep with them buzzing in my ear and ended up wearing full length clothes all night to avoid getting savaged every night! Annoying not to have nets which would have immediately solved the problem and are standard in many other hotels we have traveled to around Africa. Some more positive things were the availability of taxis outside the hotel, who the hotel were able to call for you if you wanted. We went on a tour to the nearby Bandia Reserve which was pretty decent and the (quite grumpy) hotel events guy was able to arrange this easily. The staff were nice to the kids, although a bit rude and non-responsive to us which didn't make us feel particularly welcomed. Also for fellow Brits or other non-French speakers, the staff didn't speak much if any English (to be expected and we speak reasonable French so were able to get by). Baobab Soleil è stato un hotel molto piacevole in cui soggiornare. Queste erano le cose che mi piacevano dell'hotel: era molto vicino al parco naturale, Foret de Bandia e la navetta dell'hotel poteva fornire un passaggio avanti e indietro a pagamento. L'hotel era anche vicino all'aeroporto, ma poiché non stavo volando dentro o fuori, non si applicava a me. Non c'erano molti membri dello staff, solo circa tre. Hanno lavorato duro per fornire servizi ed erano molto cordiali. Le camere erano spaziose, pulite e dotate di servizi essenziali. C'era una grande piscina, aperta 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni su 7. Il cibo era buono anche se il menu era limitato. C'erano bevande alcoliche da acquistare. C'era l'accesso a Internet nell'area ristorante. L'area circostante aveva molti alberi di baobab che rendono il nome Baobab Soleil molto appropriato. Si potrebbe fare una passeggiata nella zona senza problemi di sicurezza. Suggerimenti: Se possibile, munitevi di un router Internet in modo che le persone che amano lavorare o leggere online possano leggere in camera o nel patio invece di andare al ristorante, che è spesso rumoroso e pieno di mosche. Anche gli uccelli tessitori sul grande albero vicino fanno un bel baccano che dopo un po' può stancare. Sono stato lì 3 notti e avrei voluto lavorare un po' nella mia camera, ma non ho potuto farlo e sono rimasto un po' deluso. Nel complesso, è stato un buon soggiorno di 3 notti in hotel.

Siamo una coppia ”giovane” sulla sessantina e abbiamo prenotato il nostro soggiorno tramite RCI. Ci è stato permesso di effettuare il check-in un po' prima, tuttavia il nostro appartamento non era pronto. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere che la porta della cucina fosse sbloccata ma quando lo è stato, non c'erano attrezzature! Anche quando finalmente fu rifornito non c'erano né bollitore, né detersivo per i piatti, né strofinaccio per pulire le superfici. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere un sacchetto per la spazzatura il primo giorno e poi, quando il cestino è stato svuotato, non è mai stato sostituito. Abbiamo anche dovuto chiedere una spugnetta, una vaschetta per il ghiaccio e guanti da forno (ma erano inutili). Non c'era nessun coltello affilato! Dovevamo preparare i nostri pasti usando un coltello da pane! Hai mai provato a sbucciare un kiwi con un coltello da pane? C'erano anche nessuna grattugia, niente spremiaglio, niente bicchieri da vino (solo 4 bicchieri piccoli), niente cucchiaio di legno. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere 4 volte che qualcuno riparasse il forno. L'unità sicuramente non era predisposta per il self-catering. L'unità era molto squallida e non ben mantenuta e sicuramente non era all'altezza dello standard che ci aspettiamo da RCI. La cucina ha un disperato bisogno di essere rinnovata. Non c'era il monitor del monossido di carbonio eppure stavamo cucinando a gas. Nessun allarme antifumo e l'estintore era fuori! Siamo stati sfortunati con la nostra unità (n. 1) perché era proprio accanto alla reception e c'era gente che passava costantemente. Lo spazio esterno non era affatto privato. Potevamo sentire costantemente il personale della reception che si urlava addosso tutto il giorno. Inoltre non c'erano le zanzariere. Il problema più grande però è che Nettuno non è sulla spiaggia! Le informazioni RCI affermano che la spiaggia è sul posto, il che è molto fuorviante e dovrebbe essere rimossa. In realtà devi attraversare un parcheggio e una stazione di taxi, quindi 100 metri lungo un sentiero! I giardini erano bellissimi e ben tenuti.
