Topi al ristorante All'arrivo l'hotel è davvero splendido: una piccola oasi nascosta in uno splendido stile coloniale. Il personale della reception è stato davvero gentile e ci ha fatto sentire i benvenuti. La camera era davvero bella, ma ci sono state alcune cose che abbiamo notato (che all'inizio avevamo lasciato correre): un'enorme macchia di rossetto sporco su uno dei nostri bicchieri d'acqua, paralumi sporchi sopra i lavandini del bagno, lenzuola che non sembravano particolarmente fresche e anche gli accappatoi avevano un leggero colore grigiastro anziché bianco brillante come avrebbero dovuto essere. Queste erano tutte piccole cose all'inizio, che non ci siamo nemmeno detti, ma che abbiamo notato. Poi abbiamo trascorso la nostra prima serata al cocktail bar, dove il nostro drink è stato servito dal delizioso barista (molto educato e sorridente). Mentre bevevamo abbiamo visto un enorme topo correre attraverso la terrazza: abbiamo pensato che fosse un'isola e che forse fosse normale (anche se in realtà non ne eravamo contenti). Poi, mentre cenavamo al ristorante, un altro enorme topo correva verso il tavolo. Per noi, questo non va bene. Abbiamo chiesto di cambiare tavolo perché abbiamo visto un topo e i camerieri lo hanno a malapena notato, non si sono scusati e hanno continuato a evitare il nostro tavolo per il resto della serata. Abbiamo informato il direttore il giorno dopo, che ci ha assicurato di essere a conoscenza del fatto che il topo era stato catturato, e di "dargli una possibilità". Non ci è stato offerto nemmeno un drink di cortesia. Dopo aver cenato di nuovo al ristorante la seconda sera e aver visto di nuovo un topo, per noi era ora di fare il check-out. Non solo è spiacevole vedere roditori che scorrazzano in giro mentre mangiamo, ma direi che è una questione di igiene e mi fa dubitare della pulizia della cucina e della sicurezza del cibo. L'unica concessione che ci è stata fatta è stata quella di non pagare per le notti rimanenti in cui non saremmo rimasti. Davvero deludente. Col senno di poi, ecco alcune cose che aggiungeremmo all'intera esperienza: - Non è un 5 stelle in termini di cibo, servizio o pulizia - Il personale è stato davvero incostante: alcuni molto cordiali, altri davvero maleducati e poco disponibili - Le camere non sembravano pulite - Il cibo era nella media, niente sembrava fresco, compresa la colazione - Piuttosto avaro con l'acqua: non l'hanno mai sostituita in camera (abbiamo dovuto chiederla) Al momento alloggiamo in un altro hotel e non abbiamo visto un solo topo, quindi non pensate che sia "solo una cosa da isola", come ha affermato il direttore. Anche il servizio e il cibo sono mondi a parte, il che ha davvero confermato che la nostra recensione del 20 degres sud era completamente giustificata: non è stata un'esperienza da 5 stelle.

I stayed at La Maison 20 degré sud for a weekend at the beginning of June because I’ve seen lots of social media videos about it. My experience fell a bit short of what I expected and I was somehow disappointed. It is a boutique hotel in the north claiming to be a 5-star… I didn’t feel like it was one. From arrival the greetings were very average, we met a lovely security guard who brought us inside then were sat and waiting for 30 minutes or so in an empty bar area.. with am artificial orange juice as welcome drink.. not very 5star.. The hotel was not full and the staff were… not outstanding, they showed unwillingness and lazed around speaking mostly to each other.. Room was okay, smaller than we expected and a bit old, the toilets were filled with small flies all over the wall which was annoying. Amenities were ok but not wow.. The only 5-star was the quality of food served at the restaurant, nothing to say. It was a 10/10 , service was ok nothing wow. There are very few activities to do. Its better suited for old aged couple of romantic couple of a honeymoon - even for them 2 days would be a lot. There was merely any entertainment live music stoppend at 9PM… then nothing. Overall I was not very satisfied and will not recommend this hotel.

Last week we had a few days at 20 degrees sud to celebrate my husband's birthday. On arrival our chosen room was not ready due to another guest unable to leave the room on time. However the room manager showed us another room which was equally as nice. The room is very spacious, very clean ,comfortable bed with a large terrace and a jacuzzi. The atmosphere at the hotel is calm and unhurried, ideal for relaxing. Food is excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Sanjeve took very good care of us and prepared us some beautiful dishes. We also had a two hour spa treatments which was fabulous. Our therapists Kreety and Deena were very caring and friendly. The hotel also serves wonderful cocktails 🍸 and ice tea. Evening entertainment was provided by Julius at the piano and his beautiful singing. We had a wonderful stay thank you all for taking such good care of us. Thank you to Frederick, Mohamed,Laval,Denis to name but a few. You are all wonderful. Hope to return soon.

What a lovely experience at 20 Degrés Sud! We went for lunch and a spa treatment, and genuinely enjoyed every moment. It’s a small, classy boutique hotel with so much charm, but what really stood out for me was the warmth of the Mauritian hospitality. You can feel it everywhere from the welcome to the restaurant and all the way to the spa. It feels personal, genuine and effortless. The food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the spa was exactly what we needed peaceful, relaxing and beautifully done. A big bravo to Lindley and the entire team for the wonderful atmosphere they have created. Special thanks to Michael for taking such good care of the organisation, Frederick in the kitchen, Saeed at the restaurant and Christine at the spa. You all made our visit truly special. We left relaxed, happy and already looking forward to coming back. 100% recommended! 👏🇲🇺❤️

Very good service, pleasant environment, and the management is excellent. I recommend it when visiting the island of Mauritius. A quiet atmosphere that feels like home. Private beach and relaxation. Beautiful hidden location, unique experience, outstanding rooms, facilities and food and overall truly perfect few days away. The staff are highly professional, friendly and go above and beyond to ensure the best experience. Everything is to the highest quality and has as yet been unmet anywhere we have stayed. Feel privileged to have had the chance to stay here and want to express a special thank you Karen and Sunil.

We stayed in The Charm rooms for 4 nights and enjoyed the Mauritian hospitality provided by the GM and his team. The food was generally excellent although the service at dinner could be a little slow, whereas the bar was excellent with a great choice of cocktails. The snorkelling trips and the ‘ferry’ service across the bay were included so it was lovely to get out and enjoy the local area.

We booked 4 nights to end our holiday in Mauritius following the wedding of our daughter at another hotel. We wanted a hotel to relax and unwind after a hectic week of celebrations. we definately found this in the 20 Degrees Sud ! It is a small luxury hotel, only I believe 32 rooms, but big on service. Prior to arrival we were well supported in all our communications by Karen, what an Ambassador for both the hotel and Brand Relaise Chateux ! On arrival we were pleasently surprised to have been allocated a beach side suite, a stunning room with great views of the Bay. There is only one restaurant, but that is enough for this size hotel, with the opportunity to sit by the pool or beachside. All the staff were so polite and friendly and there was the very nice added touch that the GM, Lindley, both welcomed and ensured he said goodbye on departure, plus throughtout the stay always had time to ask how things were going. My wife is Coeliac and needs Gluten free meals, this was not an issue at all and they would always adapt or prepare an alternative if there was nothing suitable on the menu. A special thank you goes to Mohammad (very discrete and so helpful), Frederick, Laval and Reshmee, but that said, all the staff were equally helpful. We did go on the hotel boat, Lisbeth, for evening dinner, this was an experience and well corordinated. The food was delicious if you like seafood, I do. Just one point to note, "Lisbeth" only caters for 8 persons and you need to remove your shoes on boarding (leave on jetty), then part of the evening you sit on the deck for drinks, so you need to ensure comfotable clothes that allow you to sit cross legged, albeit on a cushion. The beach is small, but never got full, so always sunbeads available, and the sea is OK for swimming but in only a limited area due to shallow water and rocks. These latter comments are only to give a "heads up" if you have not visited before and does not detact from the luxury of the hotel. There are available Windsurf Sail Boards, canoes, snorkling trips and a very useful ferry which only takes 10 minutes to the town (Grand Baie) across the bay. I would highly recommend this hotel for luxury, food and relaxing surrounds, but it also fits well if you want a two destination holiday like we did ! Just book it, you wont be dissapointed.
