Best service I have ever had, at a hotel - fixed my computer, walked me to the army is bus stops, staff always available to answer questions. Big breakfasts near shops,restaurants, transport, the ocean. It was a terrific choice to stay at as well as spotless, strong water and they even have me an upgraded room.

+ easy to find and close to restaurants/sea
+ 15min earlier breakfast upon agreement
- upon arrival the door was closed, no one there, just after calling by phone someone arrived from externally to let us in
- taxes for 2 nights twice as high as standard (50 cent per person and night all over Malta)
- cold welcome and disappeared again
- contact via sms/calling only which means extra costs for tourists every time
- we booked a room with double bed, they put two single beds around 20cm from another "together"
- very small bathroom with a half transparent door - no privacy
- seemed that the walls were out of carton since we heard every step inside and outside the building as in our own room
- cold in the room
- breakfast ok, however we had way bether during our trip through Malta within the same price range
Overall, we didn't feel comfortable, nor welcome within that guesthouse and would not recommend staying there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was okay. Shower was great and room good for my one night stay. The air-conditioning works with coins. I opened the balcony door and the window in the toilet, the cross breeze was enough for me to sleep.

I had booked a one-night stay for my daughter and her friends, and I was certain I had booked from Saturday, March 1st, to March 2nd. I sent the deposit via Revolut, and everything seemed fine up to that point. I made the booking over the phone, and to be fair, I never asked for a booking confirmation – that was my mistake. When Saturday arrived, they went to check in, only to be told that the booking was actually for the previous night. I called the owner, but he kept insisting that he had tried calling me and couldn’t reach me. However, when I asked him to show me the call log as proof, he refused. When I asked for the deposit back, he said he couldn’t refund it because it was our fault. He didn’t even have the decency to try and offer them an alternative solution. Unfortunately, they lost their entire night out since we couldn’t find another place for them to stay. It’s not about the €50 deposit, but about the way we were treated. Be careful, because they might do the same to you, especially during busy periods. It really felt like a scam.

A very nice, comfortable guesthouse a few minutes' walk from the sometimes wet and windy, picturesque seafront, the Lantern Guest House is pretty much one of the best places I have ever stayed! Joseph and the ladies who help him are very helpful, and are happy to give advice about the area. My room was at the front, third floor, via the lift, and the room was very comfortable with a small balcony and a lovely bed with soft pillows and bedding. Joseph's English breakfast was very good - I had to avoid the cake or I would've gone home the size of an elephant, but I walked away from breakfast feeling very full up, and coffee'd up! The bathroom was small but easy to use. There are some good supermarkets nearby, and transport around the island is nearby. Below the guest house is the Lantern restaurant - a very good menu for diners, I had lamb shanks, perfectly cooked, very enjoyable. The area has other great restaurants; the Smugglers Cave does great roast chicken, while the Hot Wok Chinese restaurant cooked me a fantastic chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce. Coffee shops - the small but hip Coffee Circus makes a good brew, and the Candy Cafe on the seafront makes pretty much the best Americano I've had in years (Saquella coffee rocks!) served very well by the polite young people working there!

Only negative was that i had to pay an extra €10 for the Ac in the room. This should not be an extra charge and i didn't get to read about this in the T&C. The rest good room, nice service and good breakfast.
