I've just stayed here for a fortnight. Chose because it seemed good value. It is. Each room has its own door to the outside, which is unusual. And its own outside tables in the courtyard or on the upper decking. I could sit there to eat, read, or whatever. A real bonus. The hosts, Paul and Rebecca, treat you like their special guests, while also being careful of your privacy. I had a spell of illness during my stay, and they made sure I was OK. Much appreciated. Despite the quirkiness of the exterior, such as a shark's-head sculpture, my room was reassuringly conventional. Well decorated and fitted out, with a comfortable bed and nice linen. It was kept very clean--a pride taken in that. The Beetroot is perfectly positioned, right in the middle of Margate's Old Town. This is the quaintest part of this quirky resort, a mixture of gentrification and decay, the odd and the ordinary. I love it, myself. From my room, I was just a stonethrow from a convenience store and two micropubs; two stonethrows from a row of cafes; three stonethrows from the seafront; four stonethrows from a Morrisons superstore; and five from the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery. If you get Margate, you will get the Beetroot.
