Coyaba Tropical Elegant Adult Guesthouse

Coyaba was the most lovely guesthouse for our week in Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Mike and Paul were incredible hosts. They were so helpful in answering our many questions and a joy to get to know. The property was quiet and lush with tropical foliage. The pool was an absolute oasis and Paul’s breakfasts on the patio were delicious - definitely don’t skip out on those! We found the location to be easy to get to/from by taxi and in our car (they have good parking!). The room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. They have thought of everything here and it shows. Counting down the days until when we can go back!

We chose the Coyaba based on the reviews, and they didn’t lie. It is small, with a beautiful pool, and a common area, as inviting as ever I’ve seen. The hosts, Mike and Paul, are extremely friendly and helpful—they treated us like friends. The rooms are small, but very comfortable. Last night, we were treated to monkeys dancing on the roof. If you want a fancy resort where you can be pampered from morning till night, look elsewhere. This is for confident travelers who love beautiful boutique hotels.

Another wonderful stay with Mike and Paul! This is our third stay and each time it keeps getting better. Over the years they have reinvested in their property and pride of ownership shows. Paul prepares a fresh breakfast each morning with local wholesome ingredients. Mike is always available to provide tourists info and ensure your stay is comfortable. This stay we had room 3 in their new building and I would definitely recommend it, as it was quiet and close to the pool. You can catch the local bus to Manuel Antonio beach right outside their gate and it only costs 385 colones, or less than $1! We definitely recommend this elegant guesthouse!

Great stay at Mike & Paul's, it was like being at home, the welcome was very warm and they gave us lots of tips on how to enjoy the best Manuel Antonio! The room we had was large and overlooked the pool, which we had all to ourselves at that time of year. If I'm going there again, I'll come back to Mike & Paul's house!

In February this year we were able to spend two wonderful weeks at the Coyaba Tropical as guests from Switzerland. We were very impressed by the ambience, which is very well maintained by the hosts Mike & Paul. The entire complex offers pure rest and relaxation and is lovingly cared for down to the last detail. Mike always had an open ear for the concerns of his guests and also gave very useful advice on places to visit in the area. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning worked very well. The bedding was very clean and the bathroom amenities left nothing to be desired. What we were most looking forward to was the excellent breakfast that Paul always freshly prepared every morning from 7am. The creations are very regional and always very lovingly prepared. Yes, and then of course there are the two sweet little dogs Aisha and Ginger (I hope I wrote their names correctly) Aisha visited us in person in front of our room every morning and welcomed us into the new day. (Aisha & Ginger, we fell in love with you). All in all, the Coyaba Tropical can be recommended to anyone looking for peace and relaxation in paradise. I found my other piece of heaven upon arriving at the adult only guesthouse. The ambiance, the tropical sounds and the hostess, owners, Mike and Paul just rolled out the red carpet for you . The location was ideal you can catch a bus right out front or walk into the town. My recommendation for Coyaba adult only guesthouse, you won’t have any regrets, the experience is worth the money. Another reason my trip was worth every penny, the owners vast knowledge about activities to go on the island. The breakfast can be added on for an additional fee, which isn’t much, the fresh local fruits, the coffee and homemade bread just mouth watering.

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday with some friends at Coyaba Tropical in Costa Rica and it was a wonderful experience. The peaceful and serene surroundings of this oasis were a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of my daily life in New York City. Our hosts, Mike and Paul, were outstanding. They organized a lovely birthday dinner for us and even managed to secure some discounted tour packages for our group. They were attentive to our needs and always available to make our stay comfortable. My room was immaculate and the bed was incredibly comfortable, providing me with much needed rest. We all enjoyed the pool and the outdoor space immensely. Needless to say, our social media followers were envious of our amazing trip. Thank you Mike and Paul for making my birthday and our stay at Coyaba Tropical unforgettable. We will definitely be back!

What an experience we had. Read the reviews and booked two rooms by wiring a deposit. A day prior our arrival, got a sorry letter saying the rooms will not be available and we are moving you to a much better hotel. On arrival please pay the balance in cash. We did as told. After receiving the payment we were told to pay more. We convinced them they have an error. Basically we were cheated on multiple levels. Ecotico was terrible, did not include the breakfast we paid for, where Mike from Coyaba (who stopped being nice to us) said it’s for us to take it up with this hotel. Of course they refused. This hotel, Ecotico, was mostly vacant and under construction and we were woken up by hammers at 5:30AM every morning. We had to argue about simple things such as coffee after the first day, poor repairs on locks etc.. all and all we were taken advantage off, and cheated. Nice people turned nasty. We had a very sad experience in this beautiful location.

The Hotel itself and the grounds were lovely. Situated on a busy main road which are not paved and are dangerous to walk along. There is a bus stop outside which takes you into Manuel Antonio or Quepos and the busses are cheap and run quite frequently.
