Ongoing Nightmare with Hotel Poonja - Overcharging and Abysmal Customer Service Our family's ordeal with Hotel Poonja began in July 2024 and has continued through November, with no resolution in sight. Initial stay (July 2024): - Overcharged by 3 times the agreed amount (~18K instead of 6k) - Falsely claimed our card had declined, despite charges going through thrice - Promised auto-cancellation of extra charges within 2 business days - never happened Attempts to resolve (July-November 2024): - Sent 6 emails - Made 20 phone calls from the US - Had a family member visit the hotel November 2024 follow-up: I returned to Mangalore and personally visited the hotel 7 times this month. Each visit was met with: - The same excuse: "The manager is not available" - Staff arguing among themselves, blaming the accounting team vs. reception - Shockingly unprofessional behavior, especially from the receptionist who laughed about the refund delay The level of incompetence and potential fraud is astounding. Not only have they held onto our money for months, but their staff's behavior has been nothing short of disgraceful. The receptionist's lady laughter about our situation was particularly offensive and unprofessional. This experience goes beyond poor service - it feels like intentional deception and theft. I strongly urge potential guests to avoid Hotel Poonja at all costs. The risk of overcharging, coupled with their complete lack of customer service and accountability, makes this hotel a hazardous choice for any traveler.
