Nhambavale Lodge

Good stay off-season, very quiet, we were almost alone, beautiful views of the lake and good fish. Accessible beach by foot.

We had a great time as camping group at Nhambavale. All facilities met our expectations and the restaurant / bar at the deck was great. Friendly helpful staff and management. Overall we had a great stay.

Communication: It was unclear and I was told that the road was 0K for a no-4x4 car. No way! We got stuck in the sand late in the dark of the evening with limited mobile phone connection. When I tried to call, no-one answered from the Nhambavale Lodge and there was only one phone contact (a person based in South Africa, we were told at a later time). No-one answered our messages too. We were helped by the local population to get in touch with the employees in the lodge and finally the staff came to pull our car. We were lucky that we met people who wanted to help, however we were very scared and almost until the end we could not be sure if the people pulling us are really from the staff, as we never got in direct contact with the lodge. We consider that in cases of difficult access to a certain accommodation, at least there should be someone to answer before we arrive. Apart from the above, the staff on site is friendly and helpful. The location is nice. Only the mosquito nets are broken and full of holes: must be replaced! 4x4 absolutely needed! I left the same review on Google Maps but it has been removed. Furthermore, the Lodge management answered to my review on Google Maps by saying that I was "highly intoxicated", that is completely fake and unacceptable as I was not! Claiming that I was "highly intoxicated", while I was not, might qualify as defamation from a legal point of view...
