When visiting Argentina’s wine region of Mendoza, travelers generally choose between three main areas for accommodations: Mendoza City (most urban and closest to the airport), Maipú (about 10 miles from the city), Luján de Cuyo (about 12 miles away), and the Uco Valley (around 60 miles from Mendoza). For my trip, Mendoza City felt too urban, and while the Uco Valley tempted me with its beauty, it seemed a bit remote and pricey for lodging. Many of the higher-end accommodations in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley also came with a hefty price tag. After reading stellar reviews, I chose Posada Olivia Verde as a happy medium — and I was not disappointed. Be aware that the immediate surroundings are more urban than I anticipated. But once you enter the gated property, it feels like a little oasis. The buildings are newer rather than historic, so you don’t get the old-world charm of some other posadas, but the interiors are tasteful, comfortable, and very well kept. My room had a large, comfortable bed and, to my delight, a proper bathtub — a must-have for me. The property has a number of thoughtful amenities. There’s an on-site restaurant that serves both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a bit limited, but the staff gladly prepared omelets and other requests when asked. Dinner was wonderful; I especially loved their homemade puréed vegetable soup. They also have a resident masseuse, Fernanda, whose massages were exceptional — definitely book her in advance. (Note: there’s no full spa.) Guests can also enjoy a cozy community room with a fireplace, sofas, and tables — perfect for relaxing. A separate self-serve kitchen is available as well, stocked with coffee, tea, wine, beer, and other drinks on an honor system where you simply note what you take. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging transportation and tours. My private driver, Miguel, was excellent — his SUV was spotless and comfortable, and he was very knowledgeable about Mendoza. He picked me up from the airport and also drove me for a full-day trip to the Uco Valley (which is absolutely not to be missed). Just note that he prefers cash payments. I also used Uber for shorter trips to Luján de Cuyo to visit wineries such as Lagarde and Vistalba, and later back to the airport with no issues. Overall, staying at Posada Olivia Verde allowed me to save on accommodations and instead splurge on wine and dining experiences, including an unforgettable Michelin-style lunch at Lagarde. The combination of comfort, helpful staff, and excellent value makes this posada a fantastic choice for travelers who want something above standard but not ultra-luxury. Highly recommended.

The setting was lovely and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. It was very nice to have the lounge space and having a kitchen and a dining room was a real plus. With two couples sharing the space we felt we had lots of room and privacy.
