Excellent hotel and pub/restaurant, good value for business trip.

Took a colleague out for lunch today, visited The Black Horse, we both opted for the specials, risotto and mussels, both were fabulous. Staff were attentive, beer selection great and the food was fresh, delicious and really good value for money, Absolutely spot on. Highly recommended.

Amazing selection of beer! Brilliant old pub, with instact and displayed old features and a really good amount of drinkers seating! Love a Poretti. The Food is good, thy have a decent amount of specials everytime I visit. A good amount of parking.

Lovely clean and comfortable rooms with fluffy towels and very comfortable beds… the staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 8 and two of us left something behind….. the landlord followed us on our pilgrimage waving the lost property out of the car window

Just had 3 really, really, enjoyable nights at the BHI. Wonderful location, went on two lovely runs in the area directly on to the North Downs Way. Rooms were fine, great bath and shower, plenty of space. Lovely food, dinner and breakfast were great, in a wonderful atmospheric pub. (Amazing mushrooms at breakfast!) Lovely staff across the board , helpful, friendly, welcoming from reception, to the owner, to the cat, to the wait staff - all lovely. My one, single improvement point would be to have fresh coffee for breakfast over instant. Would absolutely come back - thank you for a lovely friendly stay.

The constant humming of the fan in the adjoining bedroom kept me awake most of the night. Also, the exterior security light switched on and off throughout the night and shone into the bedroom making it a very disturbed night. This was in "Daisy" in Block 5. Terrible.

Been here twice to eat now and it didn’t disappoint. The standard of the cuisine is first class from presentation to quality ingredients and even down to a hot plate upon delivery - excellent ! I eat in some of the more recognised high end establishments in Central London and have to say that the food we had mirrored this standard and in fact, for me, beat it. To start, we had the fish platter to share which was outstanding and a must should you visit. Our mains were Calves Liver, (which was devine,) and my guests had Fish n Chips and Steak respectively - both of which they assured me was excellently cooked and of the same quality as the liver! We couldn’t fit a dessert in but I’m sure it would have been just as delicious if we could have. Pricing very reasonable for the quality of the dishes and service. We will be returning very soon.

A complete let down. Have enjoyed a number of visits here in the past but yesterday was dreadful, it bore no resemblance whatsoever, everything about the place was unacceptable. We had booked a table for lunch and had received confirmation of the booking, on arrival however no record of it could be found ?? Eventually we were told a table was available, but were not shown to it. When I asked a member of staff to take us to the table he snapped "yes in a minute, I'm busy !!" He wasn't,he was running about like Manuel in Fawlty Towers. Whatever food we attempted to order was " off" ie had run out. When food did arrive it was, to say the least, lacklustre and unappealing. Service was not existent, having given us menus the waitress left and never came back until my husband went to find her so we might place our order. To be fair to her she was a very young girl with little or no experience, I strongly suspect all the staff who were little more than a schoolchildren, were paid the bare minimum, they had not a clue about service. All in all this place has lost the plot, it used to be so good but not now. We will never return which is a shame because it used to be a favourite.

This gem is tucked into the foothills of the North Downs and smack on the pilgrims way. It offers a good choice of accomodations adjacent to the Pub. Ideal for those travelling to and from Europe. The pub itself offers excellent food throughout the day and breakfast from 07:00
