LONG overdue review here as my wife and I stayed at Potato Bush to start our Zambia safari in September 2022. Everything from the start to the end was spot on. I won't highlight all of the unique experiences and services one gets pampered with when staying here to not ruin it. In fact, I'm glad we didn't read about some of these things on Tripadvisor in advance because we were caught 100% by surprise, and it made it all the better. Suffice it to say, from the moment we were picked up by our guide, Alex, and transported in a boat to the lodge on day one to the end of our stay, we were thoroughly impressed. As anyone who has been on safari before knows all too well, having a personal guide is a game changer. We were able to get out on a short game drive the night we arrived, and within about 10 minutes of leaving the lodge (location in the heart of the park is a major positive) we were witnessing a mother leopard feeding on an impala. Then, the mother leopard walked out of the bush and reunited with her cub. What a start! We had some of our best encounters ever in the days we stayed here. In truth, we had more leopard sightings here than we did in South Luangwa. Some of the best photos we've taken on safari come from our time in Lower Zambezi. Besides the game sightings, the landscapes in Lower Zambezi are breathtaking. The bottom line: Gorgeous, well-appointed rooms with great bedding, outdoor showers, and plunge pools for relaxation during the break between morning and afternoon drives 5-star service, including a dedicated butler to make sure you are taken care of from beginning to end (tea dropped off on your coffee table to help you rise for the early game drive) A very nice selection of food and wine for meals; all high quality Lower Zambezi is truly a gem (possibly the best park we've had the luxury of visiting), and Potato Bush is THE place to stay when you come here. Thank you Faith, Alex, Marlon, and everyone!
