Château de Blavou

Would NOT recommend this property. When you walk through the front door of the castle, an overwhelming smell of dogs slap you in the face. There are 4 extra large dogs staying in an area just off the kitchen and dining areas that greet you with loud barks. The owners have child gates to keep them confined to one area but the dogs are both smelly and intimidating. The place could be a wonderful place to stay and relax but because of the smell, unsanitary areas and loud barking each time you go near the dogs, it is not recommended. The owner’s wife, Isabella was a lovely lady and seemed to do most of the upkeep of the castle. The owner, who is also the chef made a nice dinner but when I brought up the issue we paid for a king size suite but actually had a queen bed, was abrasive and dismissed my issue as ******* not knowing what the castle had available. At the time I booked, 3 months ago, a king suite was available and the current website said it was. There was an empty king suite available.

We had a wonderful stay in this 17th century chateau. The hosts Isobel and Pascal were very warm and welcoming. All the breads, coissants, preserves, yogurts at breakfast were made by Pascal who is the inhouse owner and chef. We dined for 3 nights on the table de hotes menu and were very impressed with both the quality and presentation of the food. Isobel was front of house always ready with a smile and a chat. Our suite was huge, tastefully decorated and cleaned daily. We stayed for 5 nights and would not hesitate on going back in the future. The surrounding area is very beautiful with lots of things to see and do. We relaxed in the garden over a nice bottle of wine on various evenings , listening to the sound of the birds in peace and tranquility. This chateau was one of the highlights on our 3 week tour of France. I would recommend to anyone that is looking to step back in time and be surrounded by French history.

Just look at the Chateau, that's what we said as we pulled up the drive to this impressive building. We stayed in the large lord of the manor bedroom. the dinner and breakfast were amazing at worth the stay
