During our stay at HG Cristian Sur Apartments in Tenerife, we encountered multiple breaches of basic requirements set out under EU and Spanish regulations for tourist accommodation. 1. Check-in and Hygiene • The first apartment allocated to us was in an unsanitary condition, with clear evidence of poor cleaning standards. Reception staff stated that we had been checked in by mistake before it had been cleaned, but this was inaccurate — the unit had been serviced, just to a wholly inadequate standard. • Following repeated complaints, we were reassigned to a second apartment. This unit also failed to meet acceptable hygiene levels. Two separate cleaning teams attended before it was brought up to a minimally compliant standard. 2. Food Hygiene • Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 on food hygiene, which applies to accommodation providers, requires food contact materials (crockery, cutlery, glassware, and appliances) to be clean and hygienic. In both apartments, all items provided were greasy, dirty, or contaminated with food residue, contrary to the regulation. 3. Maintenance and Safety • The second apartment contained broken plasterwork, damaged flooring, and loose stair rungs, all of which pose safety hazards. This is contrary to Directive 2001/95/EC on General Product Safety and Spain’s Royal Decree 173/2010, which require safe conditions in tourist properties. • Towels supplied had a strong smell of damp, suggesting inadequate laundering and storage. 4. Facilities and Equipment • The second apartment represented a downgrade from the first: it lacked a microwave in the kitchen area and plug sockets in the upstairs bedroom, both of which the first unit contained. • The kitchenette was also under-equipped with essential utensils and failed to meet the minimum equipment standards set out under Canary Islands regional tourism regulations for self-catering apartments. 5. Overall Compliance • Under Directive (EU) 2015/2302 on package travel and linked travel arrangements, accommodation providers must deliver services that conform to the contract and meet reasonable consumer expectations of hygiene, safety, and functionality. HG Cristian Sur Apartments did not meet these obligations. Conclusion HG Cristian Sur Apartments failed to meet minimum EU and Spanish standards on hygiene, maintenance, safety, and facilities. The condition of the apartments, combined with misrepresentation by reception staff, indicates systemic non-compliance with regulations. Guests should be aware that this property falls significantly below the level required of licensed tourist accommodation.

First time at these apartments, very disappointed. Apartments dated, no air conditioning ....our apartment was above bar area so noisy staff very rude...only decent staff were the maids. Pool life guard useless they have a notice advising not to put towels on beds to reserve them yet people queue up at 7am for beds then put towels on beds and then leave beds vacant for hours. We have been here for 14 days an have only managed to get a sunbed on 3 days ..u r not allowed to lie on grass area as security come and move u. Would definitely not come back and will be complaining to Jet2.
