Elysian Luxury Eco Island Retreat

What can I say other than amazing. From start to finish, this place is paradise. You have to get a boat (or helicopter) to the island where you are greeted by the nicest staff. Lily was particularly brilliant, nothing was too much and she was amazing booking trips and giving us advice before our walk into the jungle. The accommodation was brilliant, lovely and clean and the view was beautiful. The food was out of this world, they catered for my dietary requirements and made each meal absolutely delicious! If you are looking at booking in the Whitsundays, I would highly recommend staying here and if you see the book about the island, give it a read, it is brilliant.

We stayed 4 nights in the pool room and enjoyed every minute. The food was fantastic from breakfast through to dinner, and the wines paired well. My only comment would be that the portion sizes are rather large, but the team are happy to accommodate smaller servings when asked. We wanted to explore the barrier reef and the team recommended a helicopter tour with a local provider. We chose the “best of both worlds” trip, which we would highly recommend. Would definitely recommend over the more built up resorts.

We spent 4 nights on Elysian. The perfect spot to chill by the pool looking out across Paradise Bay. The food was fantastic,hats off to the Chefs. Valarie our hostess was amazing, she really made us feel welcome and her Yoga classes were great. Josh the manager was also great giving us plenty of advice and making sure we had a great time. I would certainly recommend Elysian if you want a relaxing holiday with limited guests and no kids.

My mate and I spent 3 nights here as a stepping stone to various activities in the region. Whilst the ambience, meals and rooms are outstanding value, it’s the staff who put this wonderful gem on the “I must return “ map. These young people are complete assets, living and breathing their pride in being a part of an unique hospitality experience. Let it be known: you are completely beautiful people and it was a privilege to be part of it, albeit too briefly.

The Elysian Luxury Eco Island Retreat is where you go to escape. In July ‘24, I experienced its magic firsthand. Unique, quiet, peaceful—that’s the setting. The team ensures you feel at home. With just a few huts, meeting all staff and guests is easy if you wish. It’s one of the world’s best places to “get away from it all.” Think contemporary: like a local coffee roaster meets Los Angeles. Service? Casual but good. I LOVED the food. We needed to change my reservation, and the team, led by Alice that week, went above and beyond. That kind of service is rare. Perhaps best to visit during Australian spring, summer, or autumn. The rooms are simple, but fully equipped and sufficient, especially for eco-conscious travelers. PS: Both the helicopter and boat transfers are fantastic. If the sea is calm, I'd almost prefer the boat--so much to see. But arriving by air was also a thrill. Thanks to the team for the magical stay! Until next time!

Despite the freezing weather we encountered during our 5 nights (or maybe because of it) we cannot fault Elysian Eco Resort. The place definitely has a vibe….of peace, tranquility and optimism. There is a beautiful sound as the tide comes in….a rustling as the water slowly flows across the bay. Unfortunately the icy winds were there when the sun came up but they did subside as the tide turned which was a blessing. We would then move to enjoy the warmth of the sun around the pool until the sun dipped behind the hill. The lounges in front of our room were great to retreat to after lunch get the last of the sun All the food was amazing - thanks Zanders. Fresh, unbelievably tasty and beautifully presented. All the staff were incredible. From our first encounter with Kylie (the divine mermaid aka Boat Skipper) then Alice (acting manager and Girl Friday), Harrison (fake Brendan) and the real Brendan who laid the fire every night, hauled cushion in and out and so many other tasks, and of course all the magnificent hospitality and housekeeping staff including, but not only, Alana, Alba, Vale, Sylvi and Emma. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am tearing up as I write this. You all do an amazing job. The rooms are beautifully appointed and, seriously, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Nothing was too much trouble. If the trip to South Molle with a walk to the Lookout is on offer take it (see photos) And I would definitely encourage you to read the book written by the one of the previous owners, a copy of which is provided in your room. One of our highlights was the lighting of the fire pit at 5.30 when the intimate number of guests (never more than 20) would gather there to share stories of the day and introduce ourselves to those who have just arrived. Paradise….we hope to come back.
