Portal Motel

Writing this as a 3rd party who sponsored Pacific Crest Trail thru hikers. My comments are based upon my experience with booking the lodging and comments by guests. I used a 3rd party to book the lodging. The challenge was even though I was paying for lodging, I would not be there in person. This can be an issue if using credit card. In trying to reach the motel, there phone was continually busy. I finally called the Chamber of Commerce and a wonderful lady named Marleen said she would stop by on her way home. I was given a personal cell phone # for one of the staff. Spoke to her and she in turn provided the manager's cell #. Well, the manager called me [yes, the phone system was inoperative] and we handled the payment via phone. My group arrived, checked in and all was well. The evidence of smaller town hospitality. The Chamber of Commerce, a staff member and then the manager calling me. Also, my group were very pleased with their stay for 2 nights. Lodging very clean, comfortable for 4 people and great location.

Some of the reviews I read on this place wasn't so great, but we gave it a try anyways. I was pleasantly surprised. The lady working in the front desk was the nicest person, very helpful and friendly. The room wasn't fancy but it was clean. The bed was good, but the pillows were a little flat. All on all a good place to stop for the night.

Looking for a place on our way home from Reno. After some investigation, we found the Portal Motel. Although it is an older property, we found everything clean and in perfect working order. Plenty of towels, cold AC, coffee maker and refer. No issues with anything. Front office person, Lata was friendly and respectful. We asked about a place to eat and she recommended a nearby restaurant. Very good food!! This property clearly demonstrated pride of ownership, and the importance of doing everything to insure a great stay. We will be back.

This was a nice little motel in Lone Pine CA. We had read the reviews on all lodgings in town and were very happy with this motel. Nice size room with comfortable bed, very clean, good wifi service, refrigerator and coffee maker. Would definitely stay here again.

Didn't book in advance, so we were happy a room (Room 2) was available. (Lone Pine can get BUSY!) We had experience here, so knew what to expect. The Motel is clean and secure, with free parking, and an easy walk to restaurants, but it is far enough from the hubbub.

Ein old school Motel, gut erhalten, gute Ausstattung mit Kaffee, Kühlschrank, Mikrowellenherd, Bügeleisen, Föhn, wir hatten ein großes Zimmer, die Lage ist zentral, sodass Restaurants, Shops und Bars gut zu Fuß erreichbar sind, die Heizung war effizient und die Abdichtung war auch zufriedenstellend, sodass wir trotz tiefer Außentemperatur nicht gefroren haben. Auch die Matratze im Bett war sehr gut, wir hatten keine Nachbarn und konnten hervorragend schlafen.
