Stayed one night here, first time since it’s been refurbished. The refurbishment has given the entrance and bar/restaurant a clean, trendy, feel, and is much more comfortable than before. There’s no check-in desk at all, just 3 terminals in the corridor, but there was a member of staff assisting with check-in if needed. We were in room 501. I’m not sure if this had been a storage cupboard before the refit. It was most definitely the smallest, most cramped, hotel room I have ever stayed in. As the windows are screwed shut it makes it feel claustrophobic. The bathroom was a nice walk-in shower but is also extremely small and cramped. The bed was a double 4’6 - rather small for 2 adults with around 1 foot either side to get in and out. There’s air conditioning, but it doesn’t actually work properly, making a very hot, stuffy room overnight. Our TV jammed (wouldn’t turn off or change channel). Went and found a staff member (remember - no reception desk) to see if they could change the batteries in the remote. However it appears that a common problem is that the fuse box trips and has to be reset. We were then shown how to do this ourselves if this happened again!!!! Food was okay - the typical chips with everything, but well cooked. The waitress (Eastern European?) was quite surly, especially with an elderly gentleman who could t understand her fast accent, but the tall guy with dreads (Dwight?) was excellent. Breakfast was fine. Cocktails are buy one get one free. However you HAVE to have 2 the same - not great if a couple wants different drinks as would normally happen. Parking is still available at the “reduced” rate of £20 a night!
