The Beverley House Hotel

Absolutely dreadful! Just how this place can call itself a hotel is beyond me! It’s no better than a hostel for the homeless. I was given a basement room with NO WINDOW,accessed by stairs with NO HANDRAIL,then fighting your way past piles of dirty laundry,then outside and past what I assume was the boiler room to find the door to what was no bigger than a small garden shed. The “facilities” are internet which was a reasonable connection,a shower where you wait an age for hot water (forget about any nice fluffy towels) these were thin and worn out! The notice by the bed advises use of the safe which DOES NOT WORK! There are tea/coffee making facilities,no milk or whitener,no complimentary water,fortunately I took my own supplies. This building seems never to have had any kind of sound insulation,noise from other rooms all night,there is no one on reception in the evenings or early morning,you’re expected to walk a hundred yards or so to their sister hotel for any queries! All in all my worst couple of nights in London EVER! Do not book this dump!

It is a budget hotel in a great location. Value for money was excellent. I found it to be exactly as advertised and would certainly stay again.

The triple room we had at basement was spacious and renovated. Missing some details in the room (bed lights, not perfect wifi, a few hangers for the clothes), but the owners were adorable and ready to help in everything. The location was just ideal. Overall great value for money.

1. Recption staff very friendly, and helpfull. 2. Room was crammed with one small double, and a single bed, with no room between them to walk. 3. Nowhere for clothes except your case. 4. Curtains too small for window. 5. Curtain rails need a regular polish so you can actually pull them. 6. Pillows tiny, asked for extra one, said yes, never appeared! 7. Shower door hanging off. 8. Shower very grubby. 9. Hotel plumbing can't cope with more than one shower at a time, runs hot and cold. 10. Rooms not cleaned properly, old tissues on window cill behind headboard. 11. How quickly we have all forgotten about COVID? 12. £85 pp/pn Outside of London I would not pay more than £20 for a room in a hotel like this, and that would include breakfast. 13. Goodness knows what foregin visitors must think of standards in the UK.

Welcoming team who delivered a great stay for our family over the BST festival in Hyde Park. Super clean, comfortable bed, good pillows, clean towels and a pedestal fan, fridge and everything we needed for our stay. We will be returning when we are next in town.

I needed a place to stay for a couple of nights, for hospital visiting. This hotel was perfect in location, just round the corner from the hospital and the station. I had read the reviews, some of which made the Beverley sound a risky choice. But, in fairness, it did the job well. To my surprise, the narrow hotel has a well-staffed desk. And they went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. My room was at the back on the ground floor and was quiet, so I slept well. Apart from a bit of slapdash repair work at the foot of the bathroom door frame, the room was professionally decorated and well cleaned. Yes it was tiny, especially the bathroom; but somehow they'd managed to squeeze in a fridge and a microwave, not things I expect from a budget hotel. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers. Only fault I found was that the shower head wouldn't stay up; but it was detachable, and so usable manually. The water flow was good and hot. I'll likely have to return to the area and will choose this hotel again.

Very small single room but was clean and comfortable. Good shower and comfy bed. Instead of a microwave which took up a lot of space, could've done with better tea making facilities (was only 1 teabag, no milk, no glass etc). Friendly staff and very convenient location. Enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is located in a very nice area, which looks even better lit up in the dark than during the day. But that's where all the fun ends. The room was terribly small. At first, it even seemed that there would be enough space for either me or my hand luggage because both of us would not fit in this room. The way to the room led down a very narrow and steep staircase down into the basement, where I had to fight my way through a pile of dirty laundry and household cleaning supplies. The only window led to the stairs and gave the impression that this room was formerly used as a prison or a transshipment point for slaves. Within a couple of weeks since my visit, the hotel had managed to change its name from "Beverley house hotel" to "Beverley city hotel". Apparently, due to not very positive guest reviews, it is easier to change the name than to plan any improvements to the hotel.
