Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa

We went out for a special lunch in the hotel restaurant today. Unfortunately, aside from the excellent service the lovely lady from Poland and her manager provided, the food served was comparable to what you'd find in an average café. The highlight was the warm bread served with the whipped feta. However, the side salads were disappointing, featuring browning lettuce, chunks of pepper, and white onion, indicating a lack of care in preparation. The beef fajita was chewy, which I returned, but the chef seemed unconcerned about the issue. While the view is decent, it's insufficient to excuse such poor food quality. The only positive aspect was that our complaint was handled professionally, but we didn't go there expecting to complain—we were hoping for a great meal made with care and attention to standards. Is that really too much to ask?

What’s happened to this hotel? This is just our opinion. We have stopped at this hotel on numerous occasions and loved it. Sadly not this time, we always previously enjoyed the restaurant. This time the menu was bland, service slow, had to chace mains after 20 minutes of waiting. £27 for a bit of lamb with no potatoes, chips just some faffy carrot and a bit of some other stuff was not good value, if your hungry, don’t bother booking here. Waitresses ( and there was lots of them) took ages to clear plates, not a place we will return to im afraid

Fabulous stay, with breathtaking views. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. Especially to the managers in the Tower restaurant who went above and beyond having a chat with us. The decor for me is part of the charm of the place and it’s like taking a step back in time. The walks around the lake and damn are well worth it and a great way of working up an appetite. All of the food we had during our stay was extremely tasty (breakfast, tapas and dinner) however my only one criticism is that we found the food to be delivered a little too quickly. As soon as we had finished our starters our mains were with us in 2 minutes. It didn’t take anything away from the food but it did mean our 3 course meal was over in 50 minutes and when you have little else to do it would have been nice to sit and enjoy the meal a little longer. This took nothing away from our amazing stay and we will be back very soon.

Booked a night at this hotel with the wife 18th Feb, as both of us worked valentine's day. Nice hotel, food was good and I'm a fussy eater. The Broccoli and stilton soup was the soup of the day, and was very tasty, 😋and I'm not a big fan of home made soup. Room was big and clean and the bed was very comfortable. I tried to book a lake view room but none available. We did get a great view of the lake half way through breakfast when the mist lifted. Would definitely book again but for longer.

A beautiful hotel that has the character and charm with modern facilities. Firstly the staff were all amazing, they couldn’t have been more helpful. We were in room 8, the suite, and it was a beautiful room. Spilt with a lounge and a separate master room, my son had a lovely double bed in the lounge area. The views were outstanding across the lake from each room. Master was beautiful, four poster bed and very comfy although the mattress could do with an upgrade. My only gripe is the shower which was very small. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. It’s worth getting the package of dinner and breakfast as there is nowhere else to eat in the evening unless you are willing to drive 15 minutes or so. The food at the hotel was very good and plentiful, with excellent views across the lake. There are plenty of walks around the lake which are within walking distance, however a car to drive to some areas would be beneficial. Jist ring the hotel and ask about walks, they are very knowledgeable. This is our second stay here and we would stay again. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at this hotel that make it the most amazing place to stay.

Great place. Clean, friendly. Staff all nice and welcoming, polite and helpful. Room was clean, warm and decent toilet paper! Food was good, tad on expensive side but worth it. Starter and mains lovely. Drinks choice really good. Thank you
