The Lake Country House Hotel & Spa

We had lunch at the hotel in front of a roaring log fire followed by 2hrs in the Spa and a Spa treatment each. The hotel is beautiful. What a hidden gem. We hope to go back and stay. The staff were all lovely (hotel and Spa). Treatments were luxurious. We used the hot tub, sauna, steam room and pool. Definitely recommended.

We stayed here on a 1 night Dinner B&B stay in a standard double room. The room was an adequate size with 2 comfy chairs, comfy king size bed and a nice view out towards the front of the hotel and the lovely gardens. The desk with stool had a mirror and socket for a hairdryer next to it (big tick from me!). Hairdryer was a salon style and powerful enough to dry my thick hair. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and supplied with nice toiletries but it was tiny, literally just enough room to turn around and the shower pressure (from an over the bath attachment) was quite poor. However since it's an old building (with plumbing to match I suspect) there's probably little that can be done to help this but could make so much better use of the space by replacing the bath with a walk-in shower. The door from the hallway to the room didn't meet the floor so we could hear the occasional passing guest but we put spare pillows/cushions down to block this and the hallway lighting out. The door knob/lock was broken as can be seen in the attached pic and is quite sharp so I would hope it's replaced soon to avoid any blood shed! There is a nice cosy lounge to have drink before dinner and the food was first class, very good value for money! Our beef and venison were cooked to perfection and the treacle tart for pudding was first class. The dining room was very quiet/formal even with several guest in there and some background music would have been nice. Breakfast was served in the orangery and again a very nice spread of continental items followed by a cooked to order main served at the table. Mr W had no complaints about his full Welsh and my eggs benedict was just perfectly cooked with delicious thick cut ham. There are some lovely walks right from the doorstep, either around the grounds and lake or follow the paths in either direction for longer routes but take sturdy footwear as pathways quite slippery and uneven at this time of year. There are 2 EV car chargers in the corner of the car park (7kw and bring your own charging cable) which one of the staff members showed us how to use (you need a password to enter on the charger obtainable from the staff) Talking of the staff, other hotels could learn from them - everyone we encountered was friendly and happy to help with absolutely anything, even the housekeepers we encountered were so cheery! So overall, with a few tweaks this is a lovely place to stay and we'd happily return especially as we didn't have time to sample the spa or explore more of the beautiful area!

Just had three nights in this hotel. We have not stayed here before. We can thoroughly recommend it, especially the dining which we thought was exceptional. The food from a varied menu was beautifully prepared and presented. Don't expect fast-food service - it's well-paced. Dinner took the best part of 2 hours from arriving to leaving but that wasn't a problem. The staff were all welcoming and helpful but not in your face. We stayed in the Lodge which is a two minute walk from the main house. It is a modern block with faux beams on the outside but the room, with a lounge area was spacious and well appointed. The house itself is 'old country house' style - nothing very contemporary by way of decor or furnishings but that suits us. The pool and spa are four minutes from the main house with a decent sized pool plus hot tub, sauna and steam room. We gave the spa treatments a miss. The grounds are extensive with a pond/small lake. A walk around the grounds is about twenty minutes. The autumn colours are very vivid and the surrounding countryside is good for walking, driving or biking. All in all an excellent short stay.

My cousin and I were on a trip in the countryside of beautiful Wales. The Lake Country House was by far our favorite place. It was a comforting haven— quiet, restful with a kind, attentive welcoming staff and gracious Host/owner. The delicious breakfasts in the Solarium, relaxed fine dining in the evenings were welcome luxuries bookending our day’s hiking. We also enjoyed the wooded path along the pond and River Irfon, and the beautiful old trees. I would happily return.

Many independently owned hotels would falter, when invaded by more than 20 Porsche Club members who were intent on enjoying every minute of a weekend exploring the best driving roads and dramatic landscapes across Wales. From the menu selections to the service delivery ... all overseen by the owner (Mr Mifsud) himself ... they delivered the highest standards throughout, wrapped in home-from-home comfort ! Porsche will be back ... and we can confirm that fantastic roads and views will be matched by top quality food and hospitality at the Lake Country House & Spa ...

A short stay as we were working at the Welsh TruckFest. The icing on the cake for me was the lovely chat and walk with the Owner Mr M! The grounds, lake, River and Spa are incredible I just wish I had enough time to enjoy these! The staff are truly wonderful, so caring and very obviously passionate about what they do. True old world charm that was simply enchanting. I left with a smile on my face, true hospitality at its best ….. and I’m really hard to please! Hope the family wedding goes well, and I will be back to enjoy rather than in a work capacity Oh to add…. Food delicious, and lots of lovely hot water!!! It’s the simple things…..
