It wouldn't require much to make this a good experience. The rooms are centrally located in the Alto Barrio, and there is a pleasant communal living room. However, our arrival was remarkably unwelcoming, and it went downhill from there. We paid the price of a decent hotel for accommodations that resembled a youth hostel. 1. The cleaning staff who were there when we arrived seemed to think we had no reservation, even though we had been given entry codes. When we phoned to ask for access codes to our rooms, the contact person was surly. 2. The street is blocked at both ends by a permanent barrier, so it is not possible to be delivered with your luggage at the door. In the many emails the proprietors had sent, they could have warned us about that. 3. The rooms smelled damp and musty. 4. There was a Nespresso machine and a water kettle, but no complementary coffee pods or tea bags. Leaving just a few would have made a much better impression. 5. Further, the soap and lotion bottles were empty. They had left only a few small, cheap packets to replace them. 6. The towels were thin, torn, and re-stitched. There were not enough towels to supply each of us for our 4-day stay. 7. Other than a bed and a few odd chairs, there was basically no furniture in the room. Pipes extending from the walls with hangers on them were the only place to put your clothes. There were no table spaces on which to leave keys, bags, or whatever. Everything had to be stored in and retrieved from open suitcases on the floor. 8. When we phoned and requested more toiletries and better towels, Mariana said they would be delivered the next day. They never appeared. 9. The only receptacle for waste was a tiny bin in the bathroom. We had to supply plastic bags for our own rubbish. 10. The cleaning staff left a large bag of supplies including rags in a corner of the living room for at least 24 hours, making it less than a hospitable place to gather. Other reviews state that this lodging had a receptionist and free breakfast in the autumn of 2022. With its current management, the property should be avoided.
